It's a good service, but I remember it was pretty complicated to create this special App description file (special format) they wanted. I had to install special tools to create the file. Not sure how it is today.
The Pro of download.com is some browser have links to them in their factory preset bookmarks.

you get tons of downloads whilst your thing is in the new lists, for like a couple of days, then it plummets to almost nothing for ever.
