I am less excitied about the Wii after watching a guy playing some games on it.

The games I've seen for it seem to be controlled like those old power glove games. Ie, rather than the motion of the controller directly controlling something in the game, you move the controller in a certain way, and this triggers some preprogrammed action on the screen. This seemed to be true for their baseball game, their tennis game, zelda, and even one of their shooters, while allowing you to aim the gun in an intuitive way, did the same sort of thing when you fought someone with a sword.

Hopefully all the games aren't going to be like this. I didn't want a WII so I could play more crappy powerglove-style games.

@sswift - True. The only difference between using a Wiimote and pushing buttons is a sore wrist. I too hope that they make a more organic use out of the new controller.

I've been to the lavvy 3 times today for a Wii.

Could probably make a comparison with the DS, majority of the initial-launch/1st-gen games used gimmicky control setups that were pretty much hit or miss on whether they enhanced the game, or was just a plain gimmick.

Things will likely pickup when the system is out for awhile and devs can produce something original without any system-launch deadline in the way.

The tennis game looked awesome ... I don't know what you're talking about. It looks like you use the controller as you would a tennis racquet ... completely organic and not some canned Street Fighter II type input to trigger a move.
