Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Where do you live? give coords for GoogleEarth !

I'm from Uruguay,
if you want to go directly to my house's ceiling
enter this in the search bar:

Give us some coords :)

Paolo.

Sorry, I don't want gangs of Blitz users hiding in bushes outside my home, sneaking through the shrubbery or peering through windows.

lol, give me a minute and I'll just punch those numbers into my home-made cruise missile.

I am far too paranoid to indicate GE Coords here... I will say if you look in the western hemisphere you would see me gesturing to the satelite! ;)

Seriously why is it you can see soooo much closer to Las Vegas than Houston! I can tell my neighbors red suburban is in the driveway but not if the pic was taken before I bought the 190e or while I still owned the Bertone!

LOL :)
you cowards ....

I can see "too much paranoid" in here, specially having in
mind today is 11-S ...

That's because YOU don't live in the same country as Puki :P

My humble house near the sea:

60°09'32.60" N 24°43'42.09" E

No sea but lot's of lakes around and the alps! :O) 48°03'57.66" N 11°36'24.14" E

@Mustang
Do you have a boat?

If you zoom out a little bit you will see the farm land and the pacific ocean.
34°10'41.33"N 118°58'55.55"W

I'm expecting sswift to come along at any time and say "Don't bother you Brits - they haven't invented a strong enough zoom yet !"

51°15'54.78"N
7° 8'2.00"E

Hopefully noone around here bombs my house for asking to much questions ;)

Do you have a boat?

Nope... we have 100.000 lakes - and twice as many rocks and islands... you'd have to actually be able to navigate that floating thingy in these waters :) We have been thinking of getting a small (<10m) boat in the future, my wife would like to take the required courses to get herself properly trained for (motor)boating. Me, I would just enjoy the ride (+beer)!

Not exactly the best resolution on the map, but hey.. :p

59°10'51.01"N 10°55'40.47"E

I live fairly close to the ocean too.. ;)

Just type-in Caerphilly - I'm just up from the castle. That's all the info I'm giving. :-P

39° 1'3.29"N 77° 6'24.12"W

In the luxurious tiny one bedroom high rise condo with a huge swimming pool, fitness center.....

Unfortunately, this is where i work and where i'm sitting at right now :p (notice the distance i have to travel.....) : 38°55'33.79"N 77°14'16.43"W

54°31'31.93"N 3° 0'35.73"W

Or at least one of the places I like to be :D

Ah you are the one living in that cave?

Google Earth is really one of those few 3d apps which make sense. A little bit sad that they use a lot of old images and that the resolution is a little bit too low. Will be interesting to see this evolving...

Hmm imagine if there also would be the other planets of out solar system integrated or at least the moon... ;O)

I wonder how it will feel/look like touching the ground in Elite4...

cool :D

@ LarsG,
that look like a nice place, I mean in between
all those small "islands" :)

Paolo.

Eurhythmy:
yeah, it's a very nice place to live.. :)

Personally, I'd like shorter winters and longer summers though, but it's nothing against the winters up north in Norway.. :p

@Neuro,
according the google's ruler, you have around 20 km (11.33 miles)
to your work, so might be 40km a day, is it correct?

and, ... man ... your building is dominating the whole area,
it looks like a castle :)

Paolo.

Well actually, the drive is only about 15 miles which is actually not much....but since I live in the Washington DC area.....the traffic alone....takes me about 1 hour to get to work and close to 2 hours just to get back. Its gotten better though.....

and, ... man ... your building is dominating the whole area, it looks like a castle :)

lol...its not a castle, but actually two high rise 20 floors condominium buildings, seperated by a center lobby/arcade area. The place is frickin huge and has everything from full size gym, indoor pool, huge out door pool (you can see that from google earth), restaruant, convience store, spa....and other tons of other stuff. Its a nice area with a lot of rich retired people. But me and my girlfriend got ourselves a tiny one bed room apt with an awesome view of the pool and the Bethesda city (recall Bethesda Software?).... Just enough to survive.. :)

BTW, you can see the huge parking lot in the front....but there is actually 3 more underground parking garages!

I don't live in the USA so the quality will be shit so there's no point.

how do you copy the coords?

@ markd,
create a new marker in a position, and you will see the coords
in the properties of the marker !

Just enough to survive.. :)
... ok, now I'm waiting
for the Neuro'sHouseParty, when?

Makepool: Did you actually check?

Google very recently added hi-res maps covering pretty much all of the Netherlands (previously only the major cities), and supposedly they've been working on other countries too.

You can also try Microsoft's answer to Google Earth - Virtual Earth - they have some excellent Bird Eye views that can be viewed from N,W,E or S. Not all areas covered yet but the USA and most of Europe's in.
You can create an html page with the following code to search by address :
<html>
   <head>
      <title></title>
      <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
      <script src="http://dev.virtualearth.net/mapcontrol/v3/mapcontrol.js"></script>
      <script>
         var map = null;

         function GetMap()
         {
            map = new VEMap('myMap');
            map.LoadMap();
         }

         function FindLoc()
         {
            map.FindLocation(document.getElementById('txtWhere').value);
         }
      </script>
   </head>
   <body onload="GetMap();">
      <div id='myMap' style="position:relative; width:800px; height:600px;"></div>
      <INPUT id="txtWhere" type="text" name="txtWhere">
      <INPUT id="find" type="button" value="Find" name="find" onclick="FindLoc();">
   </body>
</html>
