Google Images' Search

Google Images is a handy tool for finding pictures quickly isn't it?

But I just searched for 'trashcan' !
Does anyone else get a zoomed in 3D render of some minge as the 1st picture? I get this even with safesearch turned on.

Good job I wasn't helping my mum find a picture of some trashcans or else I'd have had a tough time explaining why that popped up on my screen.

You'd be suprised at some of the images google search has presented me with.

You see it too? Well it's only a fuzzy search after all you can expect to get some dumb pics after about page 10, but the VERY first pic? That is stupid.

Why do I always have to be the one to find stupid things? :)

Well, it's a 3D rendered pic so I guess it's kinda safe. Although I can understand that searching for trashcan and getting that as the first pic is bit stupid. :)

All it does it present you with images that have the text 'trashcan' in their filename or close by them on the website.... Which can be wildly inaccurate, especially if someone uses weird 'filler' text on a website, or has an odd collection of images together.

google actually has a 'game' now that helps them get more accurate results in the image search though: http://images.google.com/imagelabeler
It shows two randomly assigned people the same images, and asks them for a description. If they give a matching description, it goes on to the next image, etc.
