Russian / Cyrillic text display in BlitzMax?

Recently i tried to display some russian cyrillic text in Blitzmax, the result was just garbled nonsense.

Is there any way to disaply non european text in BM?

You could turn each of the characters into pictures and put them in that way

Thats just a wild guess, but I guess if no one posts anything better
