BlitzMax Upgrade Pricing Policy?

What is the upgrade pricing policy of BlitzMax and MaxGui?

Thanks,
-Garrett

Upgrades to BlitzMax and MaxGUI are free once you've bought the products or have I misunderstood?
I believe maxGUI is still free to B+ owners.

No, I mean once I've initially purchased BlitzMax and MaxGui, and they are
eventually upgraded a full version number. Will there be an upgrade price,
and what would be the upgrade price for each one?

Thanks,
-Garrett

No they are the full version number now. There isnt an end product other than the product "Now"

This isnt the EA version, this is it.

Edit: Look at B3d its 1.98 there isnt a 2.0 And thats after five years

He means when they are not 1.x but 2.x.

When BlitzMax turns to version 2.x, will there be an upgrade price to pay in order
get the version 2.x?

-Garrett

See Above. Blitz3d is after 5 years still 1.98 or so. The next lot of money/upgrade will be for Max3d addon mod. I dont think Bmax will go to 2.x at all

BRL have never charged for upgrades (in fact I don't think they've ever got beyond version 1 of any of the products).
It doesn't mean they won't just there's been no suggestion they ever will. Guess BRL are the only ones who can give the official answer though.

@Tony,

I had blitz basic 2.1 (But I now what you mean)

Did you? I thought 1.80 was the last Blitz2D release.
What was in the later releases?

i remember hearing of a blitz basic 2 on the old amiga computers but since i never had one i am not sure

Wasn't BlitzBasic 2 a whole new product though? As in a genuine sequel, not just version 2.0 of the original? I don't know, I was an Amos guy back then ( you couldn't buy Blitz anywhere near me and this was long before the internet was widespread. )

It was an amiga product, binder manual. Still got it about somewhere. BLitz Basic 2.1 (Acid Software I think). It was about the time of Amos Pro

Blitz Basic 1 on the Amiga was not very well known and from what I hear, practically useless. =]

Blitz Basic 2 shot to fame after it was released because it rocked so bloody hard.

Blitz Basic 2 v2 was the only real upgrade any former member of ACID software have released for any product, ever. =]

Blitz Basic (PC) made it to v1.80 (free updates) until it's lifecycle came to a halt after BlitzPlus was released.

Blitz3D was based on Blitz Basic code and lives to this day making it to v1.98 via free updates. It is considered a finished product and will be receiving no future updates bar bug fixes.

BlitzPlus was a rewrite that was more or less compatible with BlitzBasic code, plus simple GUI features.

BlitzMax is great.

MaxGUI started off as 'the BlitzPlus module'... it uses code direct from BlitzPlus on the Windows side, sadly this has not meant any of the improvements MaxGUI has received has been seen by BlitzPlus as well =[ This is basically the closest to a 'BlitzPlus 2' there will ever be - it is still offered free to owners of BlitzMax and BlitzPlus, although I am assuming this module is a special case.

Max3D is going to be the closest thing to 'Blitz3D 2' there will ever be, but it is really a seperate product, as you can't compare a product described as 'next gen' with a product as old as Blitz3D. I doubt there will be an upgrade path, but BRL are known for being rediculously generous.

So, basically, it's anyones guess - BRL has never had a v2 PC release so no one can really say what they will do. I doubt anyone at BRL has even thought about it, so I doubt you'll get an answer from them either.
