Non BRL Software
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Non BRL Software
I've bought Blitz3d, Blitz Plus and BlitzMax from BRL and all are fine languages. Currently I'm not using any of them - ofcourse this could change at any point. I don't want to debate/argue the merits of each language so won't mention the language I'm using - no language is perfect.
My question is, how would other members/mods feel about me asking for feedback and testing any software I write in my current language? Would I have my topic deleted even if posted in the 'General' thread? Should I just leave a link to download or would I not be welcome around these parts? ;-)
Obviously this is a BRL forum, but I respect the feedback of the people here and might come back to use a Blitz product once again.

Steve,
I can't see anyone having a problem with it if it follows the general discussion guidelines... and it is technical.
I have been wrong before though! (oh and don't be too blatant - i.e. don't advertise for them I can't see that being acceptable).
IPete2.
It'd certainly be a bit cheeky.
I don't have a personal problem with it but i guess it will start to be a problem if a lot of people do it regularily...Paracelsus was a wise man. So as you're the first one go for it.
Wouldn't bother me in the slightest, for what that's worth.
If whatever you were working on looked half as good as that chess game ( or indeed if it IS that chess game being moved to another language ) then I'd think it could only be positive advertising for Blitz products if people got confused and thought it was made in a Blitz product.
It'd certainly be a bit cheeky.
That's why I'm asking. ;-)
What I intended to do was to post at CodersWorkshop because that's a multi-language site - or it was until it's demise. Then add a link to that site if people were interested. And as I've said, I don't write-off the possibility of writing BlitzMax software in the future - I have bought it afterall.
Thanks Gabe, I have a couple of projects on the go - including the chess game (which was started in BlitzMax).
I just want to be honest with people/BRL in that this one - or two, weren't developed in a BRL product, yet I still have BRL Languages and therefore feel I have some right to post here - but at the same time don't want to upset BRL.
Does the language you're using have a forum to post your projects? (not trying to be mean or anything)
Yes it does (fair question). But I value the feedback of the people here - especially as the forum I use is not as game friendly. And I'm developing 2 games in said language. That might sound like a bad choice - but like I said no language is perfect. Just what feels right overall. :-)
Steve, you can always post it on Coding Monkeys site. It's a new site that evolved from IBasic (Pyxia) forums but basicaly it now supports all languages.

Thanks Barnabius, but perhaps if I just post in Gen Discussion that I've written a couple of games and the detail is at my website that'll be ok (they're not there yet).
