Creating a proxy server

I'm trying to create a proxy server on my local machine, based on Skid's recently posted miniwebserver code (Max). I have the miniwebserver running unmodified and can browse the page it serves, but if I try to set it as my Firefox proxy server (localhost:4463) it doesn't even accept a connection. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
