I have a problem: I need to create some good 3D models for a game... but I can't find the right program!!! I have tried Anim8or but it isn't good for the characters... and MIlkshape isn't freeware... has someone an idea or a suggestion?
Art... is the problem
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Art... is the problem Milkshape isn't exactly expensive.
There's 'Wings' - couldn't get on with it myself though.
Have you seen the prices of 3d software like 3dStudio, Lightwave and Maya? Milkshape is almost given away in comparison.

Blender is free.
I use Blender, too. It has lots of features, and is free.
I'd probably recommend Milkshape as the best low-cost modelling option.
Blender may be the most powerful app for free. The learing curve is a little steep, but if you once mastered the basics, it's highly capable. I think you still need a converter to convert to animated B3D tho. Suggestion: UltimateUnwrap3D. No freeware tho.
Or you could export static characters from blender, then animate them in PaceMaker.
Wings3D is in fact also one of the better free Programs.

Blender is a nightmare to learn to use, but thats because its so powerfull. Apparently it is worth the effort. If I were you tho I would have a word with Puki, cos he rules in the 3d model department. All his stuff looks really really professional. ;)
Blender for president.
Back when I use to do 3D stuff, I use to use 3DCanvas....really easy to use but took up a lot of cpu resources though. Havent used it for a few years so they may have fixed that problem : http://www.amabilis.com/
