PDF creator for game manuals

Can anyone recommend a decent PDF creator for creating game manuals? It doesn't have to be free, although that would be nice. I'm just after something that is easy to use yet has a good feature set. Any links would be appreciated, thanks.

Forget Adobe Acrobat, it is really expensive for what you want to make a PDF out of... If you want to turn scanned documents into PDFs etc, use Adobe, otherwise, use the following...

The best ones I have found are PrimoPDF and CutePDF - both of which are free and have no limitations or watermarks!!! PrimoPDF allows you to also set permissions on your PDF and encrypt them so that you can limit what users do with your manual, i.e. you can stop them printing, copying text/graphics.

CutePDF is also good, although it doesn't support the encryption and permissions, the good thing about it is that it just works. - It has never failed converting to PDF.

Both programs install PDF printers that you print you manual to, and you will be prompted as to where you want to save the PDF.

If I remember right, OpenOffice can save files as PDF. For a manual you don't need forms, encryption and those stuff, do you?

Thanks Indiepath, Jake and especially Seb. I've checked out the ones mentioned (ignoring Adobe Acrobat), and PrimoPDF seems like the one I'll go for. CutePDF have just released a "Pro" version for $49.95.

OpenOffice is worth considering, if I can't get on with PrimoPDF.

OpenOffice is great. It will even export your indexes as bookmarks for you automatically.

But naturally, OO 2 is installed here as well and used for PDF creation :)

I too would recommend OpenOffice. It's PDF export seems to be flawless, and I use it to create all my manuals. Another nice feature is that it can import almost anything, so if for some reason you use another word processor to write your manuals, you should have no problem loading them into OpenOffice and exporting as PDF.
