What are the needed processors to run winxp?
Windows XP Processors
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Windows XP Processors 233mhz minimum. 700mhz highly recommended.
If your looking at the lower end Processors, then memory (RAM and HD are very very important)
Someone will say if Im wrong but HD 8Gig MIN, and 256MB Ram MIN

Yep, you're wrong.Got WinXP running here on a 266MHz CPU, 4Gb HD (although a 2Gb drive would be usable - just), and 128Mb RAM. It works, but a bit slow.

Well it works, but ideally for low CPU, as H&K says, you need at least 256MB of RAM otherwise the UI becomes painful to use...
Of course "minimum specifications to make it boot up" and "minimum specifications to make it usable" are nowhere near eachother, and rather subjective as well.
i know a guy that is running Windows XP on a 240 processor with 88 MB of RAM
as you can imagine it is slow as an idiot with a model T

Running? Crawling, more likely. :-)
At least a 2Ghz processor and 1 GB of RAM. You can never have enough HD space.

Most indie games I've tested on it actually run pretty well.Interestingly, it doesn't like Blitzmax stuff at all.
That is more of a GPU issue than a XP or CPU issue. BM needs 3D and such stoneage systems come with S3 -> full CPU emulation (-> OpenGL) and erm yeah, if XP takes 90% of the cpu, then there isn't any cpu time for emulation left ^^
@GFK
Doesnt xp keep telling you that the HD needs cleaning ( ie near 1Gig copy of XPcd and XP itself)?
Mind you I always assume that when someone says install XP on XXX thay also mean and put office on it as well.
@Dream.
Bmax does not NEED 3d. It can work on a non accelerated computer under HEL. (Ok so it a lot slower, but it does work, and you can write for example MaxGui stuff), But you are right about the CPU if you are Heling.

I've installed XP on a p200 with 64mb of memory. it... "Ran". Just, backwards...
H&K: thats what I mean by it needs a GPU. Relying on OpenGL emulation (DX emulation is not possible, OpenGL is the fallback), which is crap at best on windows unless you install Mesa3D, is nothing else than commiting suicide. In that case I would prefer not releasing the game ^^

Speaking of which, didn't someone on the net get WinXP working on a 32mhz PC? ;/
(cant find the damn link for it)
@Dream,
Ok, you say its not fast enough, but I bet you if there was a comp, for non 3d accelerated pII 600 (Say), you could produce an entry with acceptable speed.
