Noob: Internet explorer

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Noob: Internet explorer

Hi,

Dont shout at me if this is like dead obvious.
I got a cheap Acer Portable for word and Bmax use. And Ive started to use it as my internet portal. Internet explorer however always opens the "Acer" home page as my home page. I dont mess with the net that much, but I know how to change the Home page in options, but It always changes it back to "Acer home page".

I assume that it has something hidden in the background that changes it back. Can anyone tell me how to stop it from doing that. (Links to utils are welcome, but a simple "You delete this file" would be nice)

Thanks

I did a quick search on Google, I don't know if this will help but thewy give a few ideas:

A constant double, yes.

i have np with IE homepage setting (v 5.0), sounds like some Acer software somewhere is doing that. adware does that kind of thing.

Better yet, use Opera, at least that has an option that you can pick up where you last left off from where you visited previously, and it does so by default most of the time, something that Internet Explorer won't do without a big pain in the butt.

Well, the simplest solution is probably to download a spyware util that has real time monitoring (Windows Defender, possibly Spybot, havn't used it enough to know) and block whatever changes it back to acer's page.
