Need Manga Graphics

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Need Manga Graphics

I need some royalty free manga images, several scenes and characters, to design a Manga Style webpage for a Comic shop.

Are there any sources for free (or at least cheap) royalty free manga images?

dunno, but it might be a laugh to create your own,

You can ask Marval to send you a selection of the ones they have ripped from capcom

Its totaly leagal apparently, as long as you dont sell your webpage ;)

I think good anime/manga gfx is a highly specialized art discipline by its own.
There are many pages with talented people, eg. browse this list:

Thanks for your help noless.

@JFK,

You could find an up and coming Manga artist, and host their stuff for them on your site. And they could then be you "inhouse" artist. It would probably take some effort to find a reliable artist (Maybe harder than finding a stable distro). But it might be worthit in the long run.

Hosting their stuff probably wouldn't be enough. Well I only needed a couple of gfx to design some page elements. Just found them. There are lots.

jfk,

if you like my daughter has volunteered to draw some elements for you free of charge, if you wish?

She's 14 btw and eager to get her work seen, here is her gallery (all hand drawn):

Wow your daughter is awesome, I especially like this pic. "Ria-catboy-wannabe" I'd hire her if I was making an anime style game. Great work!

Sorry, I was away from keyboard. Very nice offer IPete2. Your daughter has a lot of talent. I'm not sure right now if I still need any more images. Also the pencil drawings probably don't fit very well with the brushes I already want to use.

This is also a suggestion: she should use fine brushes with ink / aquarel / pastel colors, and draw smooth, relaxed lines, ontop of pencil scribbles that can be erased later.

The talent is there, and also the style. Only the drawing method slightly seperates it from professisonal work IMHO.

Thanks guys. She just loves art and design.

In fact she just won (yesterday) a local Waterstones Manga competition, she was so thrilled.

jfk - thanks for the suggestions, I shall pass them on. She has hundreds of piccies covering her bedroom walls and ceiling and we even framed one from a while back and people wonder and ask where we bought it! lol.

She did a little bit of character design work for me last month and although I haven't taken it any further yet - I hope to later when my 3d skills improve a bit more.

@Jfk

See. I think you just missjudges what I ment by up and comming.

You want to jump at the offer IPete2 has made, even if you dont use her art, his Daughter and you could only benift from you hosting her stuff. You would have an inhouse artist. And she would be hosted at an online comicstore, and I assume that commistioned art will stand her in good stead at school
