OFFS - mods/BRL - help please.
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/OFFS - mods/BRL - help please.
For some reason it has now become harder to check for updates to blitz3d. I jus thad a run around the whole site and missed whatever clever wheeze is now in place for it.
Could the mods or anyone now make it easier to find again please? For example where are they now?
Why is it a good idea that we can't find updates really easily? It must have been a good idea or you would not have done it - right?
Click on the account tab at the top of the page, then click "Product updates". There you should see updates for Blitz3D and anything else you bought from BRL.
Cheers John,
Where was that announced then? - I missed it completely.
I was dead wrong about "a good idea" though, it's total poop!
been there for eons poly. :)
Right and it must have been a small and young bad idea way back when! Now it's matured it's just plain absurd! ;O)
I still don't understand why they can't have manually coded links like the automated ones they used to have on the front or forums page.
Just cos it was in the wrong place in the first place, doesnt make it a bad idea to move it to the right place.
1) In the Community section
or
2) In your Account section
The second is definatly more secible
I never visit my account tab. I visit the community tab (and front page) nearly every day.
I never new 1.98 of B3D was even available until I checked after reading this thread. The last update I heard of was 1.96 so I missed 1.97 and would of missed out on 1.98.
BRL should definately announce any product updates on the homepage.
Again, just because it was easy to find, didnt make it the right place for it to be.
However, dont be under the impression that I think you are wrong. There should be some indication on this page of what update everything is at.
Edit: In fact, the page knows its me on the page now. So it could tell me when Ive updated or not. SO if I havent updateed a product, a thread could appear just for me saying. (Update you fool), until I post on it.
However I think I should then have to go to the account section
I think the smartest choice would be to have a simple mailing list (or use the emails in the profiles) and send any new update info. That way anybody who doesn't visit the site regularly (if at all) are aware of updates and news.
By the way, simonh said if you would like to suggest any site updates then email him directly as he sometimes misses these threads.
EDIT: I think I'm going to email him right now, actually.
Well, an RSS feed would solve that quite nicely, but they've been requested for years now and I don't see it having happenned.
