Anyone use IRC?

Ive used other peoples rooms a fair bit and wanted to know whats involved in setting up my own channel. Free preferably.

I then want to put up a chat applet in java or something on my site.

Anyone got the know?

It's easy really - just join a channel - create any channel name that you want - you will auto Op in there, then you can register it.

You are best using a chat client - such as mIRC.

The advantage of the Blitzed network is there are Blitz-related channels there.

One thing though, if i set up a 'room' would it be permenantly there or would i have to set it up each time.

Once registered it will remain there even if empty. However, if nobody goes in there at all for 30 consecutive days then the channel will 'drop' (unregister itself).
