Gile[s] and B3d

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Gile[s] and B3d

I've been taking a look at Gile[s] and playing with some of it's properties, and seriously considering purchasing this. However, there are a couple things I am worried about.

1 of which is, how do the lights you place on the scene get imported to B3d?

Also, how does the lightmap import into b3d?

Will Gile[s] be updated with the new updates to B3d with DDS support?

Does adding lights to the scene add it to the model or write a seperate file with all the information?

I think that's all my questions as of now,
Thanks,
Chad

Automatically, you just load the whatever.b3d in.

I *think* that Fredborg didn't promise that, but you can "fix" the .b3d to use .dds afterwards with this:

HI,

I use giles to lightmap all my buildings and i wouldnt use anything else. Lights are not exported with the scene, because they are 'baked' into a lightmap, which is a texture containing all the shade information for the building or mesh you have lightmapped, i.e. the dark bits on the lightmap texture will be the shadow areas on the mesh.

Hi,

DDS support is coming in the next big release, with a ton of other stuff.

Lightmaps are loaded automatically by Blitz3D, and there is source code available to load the lights from the B3D file as well. Have a play with the b3d parser from here: http://www.frecle.net/giles/extras.htm

THanks guys, purchasing now..

And amazing to meet the creator fredborg! :-P

..fredborg, for guys whos did purchase now before that release you just mentioned (DDS and other stuff withing Giles), upcoming version is free or what?
