Someone HAS to make a game that works like that!

that would be really fun to play an actual game like that

Absolutely wonderful! That could inspire a cartoon series... ala Morph (plasticine character from the Tony Hart programmes)

thats very cool!

Haha, that really is funny. But if they made it into a game they'd have to take out the 'don't save' command to make it fair :)

Heh, that's really good stuff. If only viruses behaved like that - at least it would be entertaining when you got infected. :P

There was one, once which made a PAcman character come on screen and start 'eating' random letters in your Word Perfect documant. It didn't do any actual damage tho', so I don't think it qualifies as a virus.

I remember the one where random letters would just drop off the bottom of the screen, but not the Pac-Man one.

This is awesome! The biggest problem I see in making a game like that is having the computer recognize what the player draws.

Don't you have to draw Pac-Man in Pac Pix on the DS, or something? I haven't actually played it, but I'm loving my new DS Lite. :)

That's unbelievably cool. Best thing I've seen in ages.

Yep, but this would be significantly more complicated.

If a pressure-sensitive touch screen was used (I am willing to bet that Nintendo will do that with their next handheld game console), different thicknesses of lines could do different things.
Eg: A thick line would be a more rigid object like the bow, while a thin line would be something more flexible like the bowstring. 2d physics, as opposed to image recognition, could be used to operate a simple object like that.

For a gun sort of thing, I guess some shape recognition would need to be used, or the game could be based on inventiveness and the player would actually not be building guns and instead be doing catapults and the like.

Or... Ink colours controlled by 4 button presses... Black ink does objects with varying levels of solidity, Red ink does explosive objects, Green ink acts as a motion track tool, and Blue ink is water?
(OOH! That stupid 4 elements thing! ...And a seperate manipulator tool).

With the DS already capable of some very primitive pressure sensing (it can tell the difference between a thumb and a stylus), and the speed at which a line has been drawn for being a worthy substitute for the rest, it may be quite plausible already.

AI is possible with some premade shapes, or something really ingenious that I can't possibly imagine.
I guess the whole thing would be best played online...

Still needs a point, though. I guess one would need an avatar or a location that the other player is attacking, and some sort of point/health system.
A player's drawing area could be limited to a region around their avatar, and could never intersect another player. (Instead, they would have to fire stuff at them).
Still not too arbitrary, I guess... as long as it flows right.

I think this is possible in a completely open-ended manner without any limiting shape recognition. (Though perhaps used in some places for fun).
The idea is to have complete simplicity by unifying every element of the game into one concept.
If you are a big game dev company executive reading this, I insist that you forget everything you read here.
And go away, Google!
