You can answer this from either the player's perspective or the creator's. What kind of remake do/would you like best?
- A remake that is exactly like the original product; might have some minor changes. Some may find this pointless.
- A remake where you take the same ideas and concepts and remake it all into a new style. Think "turning a 2D game into 3D".
Please don't say "it depends". Pretend that either way the game would turn out well ;)
The reason why I post this is because I was thinking about an old game I used to play (Army Men II) and I really wanted to make a remake for it since the franchise and company is dead. I'll obviously never come close to the real thing by myself, so I started to wonder if I could get enjoyment out of just making a totally new game but with the same ideas, characters, and plot. It wouldn't have to have the same graphics and sounds and etc., but at least it would play like it and I wouldn't be ripping off anything.
Just wanted to see other people's opinions. Thanks.
