Wii to be cheaper than expected?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Wii to be cheaper than expected?

Hmm, if I ain't seen any rumors out there, I dunno what can top this. I better hope that this'll turn out to be the truth. Come on Nintendo, out with it already... I'm tired of holding out, make it official, heh?

I couldn't really care much about the price, I just want the damn system!

Regarding why they haven't made it official yet....possibly to prevent Sony/Microsoft wanting to possibly lower their price to "compete" a bit better?

I mean, one system that is dreadfully cheaper then the rest of the competition cant bode well for those other candidates.

Well, one thing's for sure, if this holds true, it's gonna make me want to preorder that system even more. If it's gonna be this cheap, it'll probably sell out a heck of a lot faster than expected, too, to boot. After all, Nintendo probably may want to prevent a sellout, unlike Microsoft did during their launch. One thing that's NOT gonna sell out is the PS3, that's obvious, noone would want to spend $600 when a Wii can be potentially under $250, or in this case, $171 (hopefully).

I'm more worried about the cost of the games, not the system. If the games really will be £40 - £50 each (see link), as with the 360, then I won't be able to afford it.

I want a WII.

back in a bit.

Ahhh thats better!

(Man, I bet those who work in games shops are going to get WIId off at all the craptastic WII jokes :) )

*smacks Cygnus around with a Wii controller* ;)

surely the topic should be called Wii price slashed.

Anyway this is good news ... if true.

Wii price slashed.

Saw that one coming ;)

Avon, looks to me like another company trying to take as much money as possible from their consumers before said titles have even been givin' their own RRP...

this is awesome! Now I'll be able to afford the wii and far cry!

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. It'd be silly to have the cheapest next-gen console, but with games as dear as the rest.

Not to mention Nintendo been boasting about promising cheaper titles overall for awhile now.

Nintendo are aiming at the fun gamers, and not the hard-core-realism-based gamers. This is why they will always persue in the gaming industry and it wont matter if they sell more than sony or not. I beleive they will, this time.

It's like the industry has been split- Mainstream, and Nintendo.

Yeah, and it seems even more ridiculous comparing Sony and Nintendo now, given the huge price difference in their next gen systems, IMO.

see, PS3/X360 = Multimedia Entertainment Systems

Wii = GAME console.

Ninty know what they are doing.

True. Look at the DS Lite vs. the original DS. The original DS was selling at $130 at the time, yet, the DS Lite released at exactly the same price, which was a big deal, IMHO. Also, regardless whether you had the DS OR DS Lite, you also had the option to keep your GBA games, and be able to play those as well as the new DS line. Same is true with the Wii, not only are the games and the console from Nintendo going to be cheaper than Sony or Microsoft (the first party games from Nintendo won't cost more than $50, which is $10 less than MS (Sweet, LoZ: TP for $50, I'm in!), but the fact that you have the option to keep your old GameCube games and controller would make this probably Nintendo's best console that they've ever had. I smell big time sellouts all across the board, hopefully Nintendo'll prevent what X360 went through during its launch date, because with that cheap price tag, it'll guarantee a line of fans from one end of the mall to the next, and even out to the street.

Nintendo knows the way.
Follow them, they will lead you to endless amounts of fun.

Sony will just put a hole in your pocket for realism you are already experiencing right at this moment (but add bugs, over heating and random crashes)

;)

Well put... Just better hope that Nintendo'll get the homebrew community on their side for the Virtual Console, just like MS just did for XBL a few days ago, or when they announced that.

Eh... I might just wait until they're released before I decide whether they're any good or not. Revolutionary thinking, apparently.

After all, Nintendo probably may want to prevent a sellout...
Uh, yeah - no-one wants their machines to be so popular that you run out of stock. Better that they sit on the shelves.

always better to underestimate the demand than to overestimate it...

It is a crap shoot to hit it exactly right... which is why new consoles sell out...

The whole sell it on ebay for 8 times it's price thing is great to get people to notice that it came out, too...

Always gets on the news, cause they don't get it...
