Anyone want a free Amiga (London, UK)?

I've been clearing out some old stuff at work and have 'unearthed' an Amiga 2000, Commodore 1084s monitor, keyboard, mouse, various manuals, software etc. Free to anyone who can collect from Eltham, South East London. I thought I would offer it here as I know there are are a few retro fans around and I don't want to throw it away.

Its in full working order as far as I can tell - I hooked it up yesterday and had a go with 'Deluxe Paint'.

I also have an Amiga 3000. It's been cool but it has no mouse. loads of disks, lightwave is in there (IIRC). I have no monitor and no mouse, but I bought a joystick for it a while ago. Got two boxes, the size of a lunchbox, full of disks. I wonder if these machines are still desirable ? :)

They are pretty cheap on e-Bay so I guess the price-high on theme are gone.... ;o)

wow...I wish I had an amiga again.

I destroyed my amiga1200 when I tried to put in in a tower kit. :(

I may still have 2 spares but you can never have too many 1084 monitors :)

Atari ST 256/512/1024???

I wish I lived there, I want an amiga! and I miss my atari st!

I sprayed my ST black and had a gold 1024 label made, did the external hard drive mod (to boot first)..

Amazing piece of kit. Cut my teeth on it hacking games, and also a BBC and Spectrum a few years before. Oric Atmos briefly.

Still have original Elite on 5 an a 1/4 floppy... and Castle Quest - even though they probably don't work anymore.

Nostalgia... Ah.. those were the days...

Those were the days when software didn't dictate the system you used - that was it - black and white.. how lazy we've become.

"Recomended System Requirements" didn't exist.

Apart from having a 5 an a 1/4 inch disk drive obviously.

1040STF (2 keys missing), SM124 monitor, mouse. The plastic is a lovely faded yellow colour. An attractive package I'm sure you'll agree :)

1084s monitor doesnt have a scart socket i used to use mine with my snes with the rgb conection cable. i had a amiga 500 then a 1200 then i sold it ive still got the disks though including one of the best games trex warrior its a classic.

It's probably one of those 13 inch monitors that takes the A1200 style scart lead connection and not a scart socket connection. 1084s monitors do have scart leads on cos I've got 2 of them, but certainly there are some that don't have them sadly. PS2/Dreamcast, well pretty much any console really look absolutely stunning using them.

I still to this day could never quite understand why PC monitors don't come with a scart lead as standard as well as the usual connector that plugs into a PC.

Because Sony et al want you to buy a TV *and* a Monitor. They don't want to cut their profits in half by offering one lump of hardware that does both jobs.

Its probably that simple.

I have my Atari 800XL in here... hooked it up to tthe small color TV in the bedroom and played M.U.L.E. with the wife... Kicked her tiny butt!!! Then she kicked me in the butt all night so I couldn't sleep!!!

Of course, CrapTech, Superdupermegatech and kitchensinktech couldn't give a hoot about Sony's long-term business plans, and would have no qualms about creating such a thing... Just look at the $35 chinese DVD players that have pretty much every feature under the sun and then some, vs. a 'quality' player that's $300 and has less than half the functionality.

One of the likely reasons that you won't find such a thing is that SCART is a European standard -- in North america and such you won't see it. CRT's are pretty much on the way out altogether, and on LCD's you often DO see multiple inputs such as VGA/DB15, DVI-D, DVI-A, S-Video, RCA... All of which are 'global' standards, and not regional ones like SCART.
