repair or replace?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/repair or replace?

I have a monitor that only shows the right colors if the wire is pulled in a certain direction and a keyboard that has a similar problem but is unpredictable.I also have another keyboard that has the Z key not working at all, and when you press 'b' it outputs a b and a 4.

So is there anyway to fix these things or should I just replace them?
The monitor wire cant be taken out it seems to be permanently attached, same with the keyboards.
I have cleaned out the keyboards

Unless it's a very expensive monitor, I'd replace it. You can get a good quality 19" lcd for just over £100 these days ( adjust price according to currency and respective local pricing, probably $150US since US computer prices are lower ) so unless you've got something really special, you're probably gonna pay half of that to have someone fiddle with it.

Sounds like the wires have broken loose, but it might be something as simple as resoldering them. I doubt any repair shop will charge you too much for such a job.

Be sure not to work on the monitor yourself. Have a trained professional looked it.

Try replacement monitor cable?

Sound advice, there's thousands of volts waiting to be let out in many capacitors in there. One wrong move and you're toast.

Since it had a built in cable to begin with, it's probably not a very expensive monitor. You can get good used CRT monitors very cheaply because everyone wants LCD screens.

Hahaha, i'm evil, and found it funny :)

thanks for the help Ill try having a look at the keyboard circuits around the wire
