This might turn out interesting - RPG media

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/This might turn out interesting - RPG media

"Ojay" had been working on this for ages. But the website is now gone. Not even in Google's cache - but I managed to trace it back up. Looks like the site was not updated since March 2005.

I think he is German.

My sniffer is sensing an abandoned project here.

Media is good - I'm interested in buying it - anyone else interested?

He hangs around in IRC (or used to) - the German Blitzers probably know him - best someone convinces him (ideally a German in German) to hand it over.

All German Blitzers are assigned to this forthwith.

Let's be honest here, if it is abandoned (ie he is not going to make any money from it), then he may as well make money selling the media. However, I want the code too - and anything else of interest.

There's a lot more media that I remember seeing on the site.

Me!! Fantasy media would really help me on my game! Especially if its as good as the stuff in that picture.

Good boy, "Bubble Boy". That's the spirit.

Isnt it already for sale? isnt that Draven's media?

Sam

It sure is a shame Ojay dumped a project that looked so great.

it was a really nice looking Project...wish it could have continued.

Sam

No, not unless it is stuff not previously on sale.

"LDraven" released media from an abandoned project some time ago. He clearly didn't release all of the geometry from the project, but he might have only released his own stuff. It was a similar project to "Ojay's" - an ambitious project with quite a few people working on it.

I don't even know if "Ojay" has done all of his own media - could be someone else's - and, yes, could be "LDraven's".

Still, whoever it belongs to - I want it.

Me too.

The original site was http://toihlsa.de/

Whilst image searching, I noticed pictures of the project were sourcing from here:

http://toihlsa.eqil.de/

There is some media here.

One of the directories is password protected. It was modified today 09-Aug-2006. A bit of a coincidence.

So, not sure if this is dead or not.

Video footage looks very nice.

I went searching also...now im confused,,heh
Were they just prototyping in blitz?
some sites point at it being a Gothic 2 mod.
and point at toihlsa.de and toihlsa.com

Sam

also try here Puki:

hmm mostly gone... sadly.

IPete2.

oh and this wiki

http://toihlsa.eqil.de/wiki/index.php/Hauptseite

I think you need a password to access some of these areas.

Yeh, I saw that earlier - I don't think it is part of the Toihlsa project though.

I don't read German though.

"Zmatrix" they classed the game as being based on the Gothic world - the media is certainly similar to the Gothic media. However, if it turns out to be Gothic media then fine - I have both games and will be able to unpack it and claim it.

They used to post on the Gothic forums too.

Puki,

Yeah it does have Toihlsa mentioned ars one of the games in development for their Eqil engine.

Check the wiki too.

Ipete2.

that definitely does look first rate... and i think that on visuals alone, it would still be 'competitive' today... in spite of the bumpmapped, hdr, bloomed expectations of the graphically seduced gaming audience that expects everything to shine like plastic and blind you with overexposure...

ok, so i'm one of them... shoot me... but it is refreshing to see some old skool, just plain nice looking graphics once in a while...

but still puk... even armed with this treasure trove of fine media... you still gotta get it into an engine... and if that engine is something that you've written in Blitz3d, then you've still gotta set up the lighting and effects to bring out the realism that you see in that shot...

the scene could use a lil shadowing... and a sun flare maybe.... just my quick take...

hey... why don't ya try and make some of that stuff yourself... and give your big media sniffer a rest..

:)

Its been around a long long while actually Red, Check out the highest rated in the Gallery.

IPete2.

yeah neither do I (speak german that is), so it very well could be 2 differnt projects.

found this

you can browse to the parent folder also..theres a few more Toihlsa pics in there along with some other stuff.

Sam

THE MEDIA IS MINE, MINE, MINE, MINE.

RIGHT, SEE YOU LOSERS LATER.

WOOF, TIL IT HURTS.

ya gotta like that guy puki's single mindedness... not much else, but that ya gotta admire...

yeah IP, i've seen it... that's what i was saying... it still looks pretty decent...

i like that Z... has that ever been made into a game?

--Mike

Puki, are you using all the new media tha you purchase to actually make a game or just playing with it (not that there's anything wrong with that, of course)?

I'm interested to know what you're cooking up. I'm always up for a new RPG and I get the sneaky suspicion that despite your quirky jokes you're developing something rather interesting.

Thanks puki. I'm only using the music. I've listened to each song about five times now. (I absolutely love the it .) Does any one have any idea how I could contact the creaters of this music so I could be permitted to use it in a commercial game?

Stuff programming, I'm going to model epic fantasy media packs and sell them to puki for 5 bucks a model !

WHOS WITH ME!

"Bubble Boy" - ojay @eqil.de (without the space between ojay and @)

"Weetbix" - I've said before on these forums that people can make money from their media - a lot of games don't get finished - why let all the code/media go to waste? There is potential money to be made in abandoned projects.

"Puki" - I'd love to sell my soul, but I havnt a clue how to set up a website to sell my media, anyone know how?

Weetbix, you can sell it here if you like. I can attach your paypal link to the media. I used to have some of Ckobs stuff on here before his artist resold the rights
http://www.empowergames.com/models.php

you can email me, gamemaker04@... if you are interested.

rifraf - Thanks a lot for the offer, much apreciated. Say.. How bad would it be for me to sign up for a paypal account if I'm not 18?

hm sorry about that, didnt notice that thread :O

ok, so whats the story about Toihlsa?
Toihlsa was originally a mod for the fullprice game called 'Gothic', a very popular RPG game in and from germany...
as development raised it soon turned out that gothic-modding is/was a bit too restricted for what we wanted to do...so we looked for alternatives. and then blitz3d crossed the line...that was around 2002 or 2003 or something...since then some pretty nice prototypes were made with blitz3d (thats where the images and ingame-footage above was taken from...).
so our new plan was: complete a small demo with gothic-modding (something like a prologue) and do the actual (full) game with blitz3d. and it all was well and quickly raised some really cool demos...that was around late 2005...

BUT THEN.....

our lead artist was lacking in time because he finished school and started his studies. development nearly came to a halt and more and more members dropped from the team. in the end, nobody even cared about the project and so the website went down, portals were closed and domains were sold...

BUT NOW...

since about 1 or 2 months i began to reanimate the project and started to contact all former members, and even margon (that mentioned lead artist) gives feedback again...

so, currently we're discussing what and how we can bring that project back to life...i cant promise that it will ever be released nor if it will be free or open source or something...all i can say is: everything is coming back to life again ;)

i hope that answered some questions...ill let you know if i got any news!

OJay, check your email. I emailed you (as long as it went through).

are you the guy that asked about the soundtrack? i answered you already then... ;)

if not...hm...to which address did you send your email?

Yeah, that would've been Bubble Boy's email. He said earlier in the thread:
Thanks puki. I'm only using the music. I've listened to each song about five times now. (I absolutely love the it .) Does any one have any idea how I could contact the creaters of this music so I could be permitted to use it in a commercial game?"

Hi Ojay. I email you at:

Hi,

im sorry, im not in the position of permitting or denying the usage of any art made for toihlsa...that media still belongs to their specific creators...i will try to contact the man who made the music and get an answer from him. i let you know if i get any news on that topic!

cheers

Forget the music - when is the 3D media going on sale?

I extracted the Gothic 1 and 2 data a couple of weeks ago, but haven't yet exported to something B3D can read.

Ojay,
ya, I didn't get it. Thanks for your answer though. Did the man who made the music create it with a synthesizer or with a full ochestra and choir? How much did you pay for the music? If the creators allow it, I would like to purchase the music or music like that. I hope I'm not starting to sound like Puki :)

I'll pay more than he will for the 3D media.

Puki, all I hope I get (now) is the music. Not the 3D models or the textures or the code.

By the way are you going to make a RPG fantasy game and release it in the community? It will be a shame not to.

@Bubble Boy

Frank Herrlinger did the music

Try this site http://www.auftragsmusik.de/newsarchiv.php

scroll down a bit tho

Thanks
Destroyer :)

Umm, I don't see his name listed. Maybe I'm just blind.

doublepost

Wow, did this thread bring out the vultures or what?

Never mind! When I open my eyes I can accually see it!!!!

Puki, if you want a lot of media then go to
http://www.freeworldonline.com
Get the game and extract the media, they have some nice models and animated characters.

That link doesn't work - was it an RPG?

EDIT:
It's okay - I have got it now - you mispelt the link.

Thanks for the link - looks like I can harvest some of this.

They won't let me download it. Can someone email it to me?

Cancel that request - this thing has been uploaded all over the internet.

Does anyone have any idea how Frank Herrlinger made the music?

Okay... does anyone know how to contact him?

you can use the contact form on their webpage: http://www.genloc.net/genloc_contact.php

unfortunately i cant give you his personal email. just use the contact form and tell him your request...

Thanks again Ojay. I hope I'm not being annoying:) I just want extremely good music for my game.

That's one of the nicest looking rpg type games in development for Blitz3D.
