new logo.. no2
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/new logo.. no2
Well, based on all the crappy comments I got last time, I decided that the fire eye thingi was to much like LoTR, and iv done something new..
Critic away..
Better, but why people use 'studios' in their company names, I don't know. It's pretentious.
PS the plural of 'studio' is studios, not studio's
This is my dictionary definition of studio. Does it apply to you, at all?
studio // n. (pl. -os)
1 the workroom of a painter or photographer etc.
2 a place where cinema films or recordings are made or where television or radio programmes are made or produced.
[Italian from Latin (as study)]
rhino games,
rhino develoment
rhino software
rhino shareware
I got tons of names so thats not a huge problem, I goto come up with a way to scale it down and yet still keep the logo looking good, so I might create a different logo same theme for smaller things like buttons and small signature links and stuff.
Well, if you're just going to be doing games, what's wrong with Rhino Games? :)
Whats wrong with just Rhino ?
Just rhino would leave a blank black bar thingi at the bottom ROFLL>....
I think that you should just call it Rhino too. Keep the Rhino silhouette and redesign the rest. 'Studios' is really overused these days and can seem a bit cheesy, in my opinion.
Alternatively, replace the word 'studios' with something more memorable. Rhino Entertainment? Rhino Digital? Rhino Works? Ok, so they're rubbish suggestions but you get the picture.
If you absolutely must stick with the current name then, as people have already mentioned, make sure you fix the punctuation.
Actually I like Rhino Digital, or Rhino Digital works.
I cant use just rhino cos I want the domain name to be the same as the company name and there is already a Rhino.co.uk and .com. and probably .net .org etc....
Which is why I need to tag another name onto the end.
Rhino Farm ;-)
Rhino-zeros (and ones)
;-)
Personally I think the 'chicane' on which you layer your text is swamping the 'logo' (i.e. the beastie) Might just be the use of two very light blues for background and fill, but I suspect it is the sweep of the shape that is subsuming the outline of the critter.
What happens if you extend the radius of the central 'roundabout' to contain the whole rhino ?
I think the rhino looks nice but would perhaps center the words above and below the rhino instead of using the Z shape. The Z shape leaves a lot of white space unused. (Or alternatively, place the words on "ground level", one word to the left and one word to the right of the rhino.)
Rhino Digtal is ok. One thing though, what is with the trend these days of spending soooo much time on a name + logo?
The name of a company means nothing, zero, zip. I really don't see why so much time and effort is spent on such a pointless thing. A business / company does not succeed / fail on the basis of how cool their logo / name is.
The name makes it a hell of a lot easier to recomend to your friends.
for example, "Hay dave, you seen that new pompom game ?" Dvae-"Nah whats the url.. erm leme guess pompom.com ?"
get the idea. Now if your name was something like, nothingtoseeheremovealongpls or mygames or something else equaly as crap, then your missing out on possible word of mouth impact that you could be taking advantage of.
Name means everything, and finding one that you feel good about stamping on your hard work is something people shouldnt do just out of hand. it should be well thought out.
Rhino Kidz sounds cool :))
Now that I have popped that balloon... you can have two I was not intending to use:
BLUE MESA SOFTWARE
or
Broken Iguana Software
but how about:
Yavasoft
Ferklesoft
HALsoft
There was a small distribution company out there but they have been down for a bit so I wonder if they are still in business...
it is good but why rhino? it is kinda taken by a lot of other people
Binary Rhino.
studio /n. (pl. -os)
so its studio-os then? :O)
I like Rhino Productions. I like your logo as a whole, including the style of the text. Avoid having the text cover the outline of the Rhino tho.
Hello.
How about Rhino Neil?
Ahem.
Goodbye.
Boooo Soggy... Boooooo!!! Bad Pun!!!
Electric Rhino...
Allthough Jim Carey's cameo here has certainly added something to the flavor of the logo...
How about the rhino, but put back your original flaming eye logo as the rhino's eye.
Then it could be RhinIritis
That would be different enough from all the existing companies that have rhine in the name, and maybe draw in some people with eye diseases from places like
http://www.iritis.org
I don't know why, but I quite like the name "Slinky Rhino". It's odd but short and snappy enough to be easily remembered.
Name means everything, and finding one that you feel good about stamping on your hard work is something people shouldnt do just out of hand. it should be well thought out.
You could have the best name in the world and produce junk. Or you could have a silly name like "Pink Turtle", "Blackhole studios", "Liquid Software" and be hugely popular because your products and business skills are superb.
The name alone does not in anyway make or break a company. Obviously it'd be daft to pick a really long name.
I still like my idea of combining the two :)

RhinIritis.com. It's a logo, a trademark from a movie, and a disease, all rolled in one. What could be better?
Every time I think of a good company name, it's already taken. :/
>Now if your name was something like,
>nothingtoseeheremovealongpls or mygames or something else
>equaly as crap, then your missing out on possible word of
>mouth impact that you could be taking advantage of.
I don't agree...
>Name means everything, and finding one that you feel good
>about stamping on your hard work is something people
>shouldnt do just out of hand. it should be well thought
>out.
What do you want the company identity to convey?
Why the rhino?
Do you really want your customers to associate you with short attentionspan, bad breath, a hot temper and a big nose?
Andy
Quotes from wargames, a movie that when I saw it changed my computer life forever..
On subject tho, Some poeple might look at a rhino and see, big strong powerfull.. etc.. its a glass is half empty or half full sorta thing.
Either way, I have picked a rhino, thats what I am going with the only thing to fine tune now is the name.
I'd go for Happypotamus, it's a clear winner! Too bad the website has been knicked by some kidswear company.
I like Happypotamus - I told you all the good ones are taken, already. :/
Stinky Rhino Studios... There... I settled it!!! Everyone will remember the name and you get to keep a picture of the rhino in the logo!
how about www.rookoutarhinoass.com and i can use the picture of jim cery.
Blue Rhino Software... with the word rhino in the rhino logo...
And I like that logo quite a bit actually.
I knew blue was gonna come in here sooner or later...
@Yavin... mean! very mean! My feelings are hurt ;) I am gonna hafta ask puki for some flame advice! (JOKING!)
I have to say that the thing that hurts the most is... I think I am much better looking than Jim Carey...
lol
why not have a somewhat funny name
i was thinking of something with "Slacker" in it for me but i have a few ideas i like better
well slacker only works if you put out great games or very fast but still fairly good
maybe you could do "white rhino studios" ?
..microRhinos are taking over the planet!
- sorry, im bored - delete me ;)
delete yourself, i don't have time. ;)
rhino is fine. Just - don't use a skunk :)
Now, I will NOT hijack the thread by posting my uber logo of the csp engine that could be found on melog.ch/dropper under demo 6. -.-
Yavin - your logo is great. Only the rhino maybe should be more pictogramish. get rid off the gradient, use stroke instead (IMHO).
more cartoonish and funny... a rhino in a tutu? (OK that is being too silly and Yavin would probably feel the urge to flame me again!{snif}) seriously a cartoon would be more to the games side of things...
Here in Texas we use a product called RHINO to protect the beds of our pickup trucks...
http://www.rhinolinings.com/RL/main/This applies to the fact that most people associate the RHINO with the SKIN of the rhino... HARD AND TOUGH. Armored. Slow and Aggressive.
CAll it what you will... I was only trying to help.
