Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Free web design/hosting

I'm looking to build up my design portfolio, so I'm offering to make free websites for anyone who wants one. If you have a game, or a game company you want to showcase, I can design you a beautiful, standards compliant website. I'll be using any site I make to showcase my skills, so I'll put a lot of effort into them. I can also host the site for you, and any game downloads. If your interested, please contact me at jeremy.klug [at] gmail.com. Here are a couple of sites I've done:

Has anyone taken you up on your offer? If I was looking to build a website, I'd have bitten your hand off. :)

I thought both websites (above) were a bit bland, to be honest.

In the first, I don't like the logo (or the vast area of emptiness around it). Also don't like the choice of fonts for the options at the top. You're using three different fonts in the same page (including the logo), and it just doesn't hang together, for me.

The second one is completely text-based and it doesn't even seem like its making the slightest attempt to hold my interest.

Perhaps critique isn't what you were after? But this is what I thought when I looked at your sites, and based on the samples you've given I'd much rather make my own site. At least that way if it turns out crap, I can't blame anyone but myself. ;)

I really wish people would stop designing websites for a specific (and archaic) resolution. On a real screen your masterfully crafted website uses about 10% of the screen real-estate, and much of the text is barely readable.

Well, yeah, they're not the best websites in the world but considering my lack of ability to make good sites, and the time/effort this would save someone, I thought it was a kind offer.

FlameDuck has a point, good website design should be made to expand to all screen resolutions, not very difficult to do either. also your images could do with being say 50% bigger/wider.

Feel free to do me one, why ? cos I got tons of stuff on and havnt even started on my site design yet.

you can see a logo in the general forums, under the topic, logo no2....

let me know when you have something to look at.

The logos for both already existed, and I had to design around them(I hate them both). Also, the target (older) markets that the sites were aimed for required to be designed around 800x600 monitors. What the customer asks, the customer gets. I've gotten a couple people taking me up on the offers so far. I've probably got room for a few more.
