Windows protected folders

I'm trying to access an old hard drive's files. However, I can't access the account on the "documents and settings" folder. Is there any way to get into the folder so I can get my files?

I have a lot of my blitz stuff there and I don't want to loose it... The hard drive is one from my broken laptop, and I'm acccessing it via a usb device.

I have xp home... and I can't access the folders... "Access is denied" I'm going to format this little biatch... you don't want to give me what I want huh? well you will now be zero and I say to hell to all of those amazing libs and my amazing code! plus the pictures of those hot chicks, friends of my brother! Ha, and the amazing 6 to 8 gigs of the best music in the world. I know for a fact that I don't have thirty gigs worth of programs... but I do on my personal media... Now... you will pay for all of this... all the agony and pain you have caused. I just wanted to get my old FUI, BlitzTree, BlitzGrass, BCF, FUI, Swift's shadow and terrain system... the porno flicks! haaaaaaaaa! Swift, you better send me my libs again! Wait, I didn't have porno in there... I did have a lot of stuff... so long, and burn in hell!!!!

If you really want to save your data, you can take it to a data recovery place.
I know London Drugs can do it, and it probably won't cost you too much. (Rescuing my crashed hard drive was $150, so rescuing files being locked away by an OS that everyone knows about shouldn't be too painful).


Actually, for that matter, couldn't you rescue the files via any copy of XP Pro?
Do you know anyone who has it?

I know what it's like to lose data.
Ages ago, I made the brilliant decision to carry the working files for a tiny cartoon I was working on a 100 MB Zip Card.
It turned out to be the best (and only) Flash cartoon I ever did, and, because Zip card security features are garbage (and I was foolish enough to use it!), it was very quickly lost.
(And the only not-so-final compilation ended up on a CD in the hands of someone who caused it to be burried under an unknown pile of garbage).

Look up the command "cacls", used from the command prompt. XP Home has it, and it should allow you to set your access. Maybe.
