Not really something new. We had those Donky Kong consoles embeded in the table. This was around 1982.

This new flexible video foil they are currently developing is way more revolutionary, especially since they are very cheap. One day they will be used as animated ads on food packing.

Then again - its decadence scares me.

Nah, I think I'll get my fiancee to buy me a Nintendo Wii for Christmas. I've got a PS2, not interested atm with PS3 or XBox 360. I fancy something different.

Personally, I think it may all come down to battery life as to whether I buy one.

very star trek. Needs to be a bit thinner. I wonder what reading books on those star trek pads are like. They better be waterproof (when they are invented) as I like reading in the bath.

Wait till you can get e-toilet-paper, it can have whatever design you want. Plus the nanobots will get to those hard to wipe bits...

Be the Wii here, although for some reason I expect I'll be getting it the day it comes out, rather then on XMas. >.>


I've heard of something like that, but it was made for text documents instead, as the foil could only display each pixel as on or off, but the cool thing was that it costs no battery power at all for it to stay in a single "state", so only when it needs to refresh the display (say if you went to the next page in the document) would it require battery power to re-render.

Cant recall what it was called for the life of me though..., but damn that'd be awesome if one day they could use the same setup (no battery to keep a still look) with 16 million colors).
