Just bought BlitzMax
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Just bought BlitzMax
I just wanted to say Hi to everyone in the Blitz community.
I have been following Blitz development (tools and games) since I bought Blitz Basic 2 for my amiga. I decided to buy BlitzMax because of the two things: OO development and the awesome blitz community.
I hope to be able to contribute one day.
Jason
Hi Jason and welcome! I had BBasic2 for the Amiga 2 is was so much easier than DevPac2 (assembler) and really powerful. Max is great, I prefer it to BPlus by a mile. Haven't used B3D so can't comment. The community is very helpful. Hope to see some cool games from you soon :-)
Welcome, Mr Jason. I also jumped from Blitz Basic 2 on the Amiga to BlitzMax. There are some areas with a slight learning curve but overall it's a pretty easy transition.
Ah, more forum rent coming my way.
awesome community!!!
where... here???
:)
just kidding, of course... welcome aboard, and you will find some of the most talented coders, texturers, modellers, around here... all verrrrry generous with their work, knowledge, and time...

@Red and Puki
awesome blitz community
He means the awesome Bmax community ;)
Hello Jason
Edit: Under leagal Advice, I have been asked to point out, That H&K in no way imply that Red or Puki are in anyway affiliated. And Red has no involvment with intellectual copyright infingments whatsoever. And Red would
NEVER be an accomplice.
hey... don't ever mix my name and puki's in the same sentence again... understand...
when they come to sue him for pilferage of intellectual property, i don't wanna be misidentified as an accomplice...
:)

Nice one Jason - the more the merrier.
Look forward to seeing your take on things... don't let them rattle you if you cannot spell "reccomend" as well as I can! ;) (joke reference from one of my own threads!) Seriously I own B3D and have been attempting to make the move to BMax (as soon as my first severence check clears!)
Welcome Jason. Just so you know, AngelDaniel is 'the Mildred guy' so praise him quickly before you carry on. =]
my name and puki's.
Nice to see someone else with a great name :) I too had Blitz on the Amiga. The PC versions are just as cool, infact it was Blitz that tempted me to finally buy my first PC. That says how great I think Mark Sibly is.
Jason.
Hi Jas, I too 'dabbled' with BBasic on the Miggy, but took the somewhat protracted route via VB6 to Blitz3D and finally BMax. Enjoy....
Thanks guys!!
QuickSilva, you are right..Mark is great! The one thing I really like about PC Blitz products is that it has the amiga feel to it. The only thing missing from the BlitzBasic 2 days is the BUM( Blitz User Mag)....I loved those.
Jason
Seems I musta missed it all! I stopped in the Commodore world with the 64. When that and my VIC 20 finally flushed the toilet, um... well mum asked me if I wanted an IBM! So there started my life with the PC!
I cranked up through all the different BASIC versions (BASICA, GW-BASIC,QuickBASIC, PowerBASIC, VB3 - VB.NET) and of course I hit the other languages (C/C++, PERL,FORTRAN, COBOL/II,Python,Java,Delphi/PASCAL, and some others) And even went into all those scripting "languages" with database work to boot. SQL, TransACT-SQL, T-SQL. Anywho...
BlitzMax is one of my favorite languages. It's simple, powerful, cross platform, extend-able, and most importantly easy to learn/use! The community has a plethora of resources to learn from. You can generally post a question or topic and basically expect to get some kind of feed back in a day or two -- depending upon your topic.
Welcome aboard! Happy Blitz'in!
