Import .max

Does anyone know of a free program that can import .max?

.Max is not "open file format" - even Deep Explorer needs installed MAX for handling the conversion. So unless you own MAX, I think it's pretty much impossible to convert .max to another 3D format.

Yeah it's impossible, you need to query the 3dsmax .dll's to import a max file - so it's only ever going to work on a machine with 3dsmax installed...
