Bulldog Broadband?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Bulldog Broadband?

I've left Bulldog Broadband and switched back to a BT phone Line. I've signed up with Be Unlimited http://www.bethere.co.uk and am waiting for my broadband to go active. Should be about 1-3 weeks. I'm using dialup, 1ppm at the mo.

The problem is though that when I told bulldog I was leaving they refused to give a MAC code. They refused to terminate my service as they said I had 2 months to go on my contract. I asked them if I could pay up the 2 months left on my contract and they agreed. So I gave them my card details and they said they would charge the 2 months on to my credit card. They didn't make the charge straight away as they said it takes 2-3 days for the payment to go through. Well, when I checked my bank account online they had charged £280.83 to my card for 2 months broadband. I call them up and ask why they made this charge and they say it was an error in their payments process. I asked if I would get the money refunded and they said yes. It's been a week and a half now and no money has been refunded.

Looks like I'll never see that money again.

Would I be in my rights to make a complaint to OffCom? Can I call my bank and ask them to reverse the charge? Is it legal getting the charge reversed?

Just want to say also to anyone thinking of signing up to this poor excuse of a company and ISP, DON'T BOTHER. You'll be in for months of stress, dropped connections, Overseas tech support that don't understand English, mysterious charges to your bank account or credit card, charges for phonecalls you never made and Customer Service staff that hang up the phone the second you ask a techincal question.

You've been warned.

Just hassle them - and threaten to make an official complaint - until they give back the money they've stolen from you. If they'd done that to me, I'd have gone ballistic at them! They sound like a bunch of clowns.

Of course, if they agreed to 2 months payment to cover the remaining of the contract, and swallowed more than they could chew, you have a right for your money back!

You should talk to them, they could probably explain more about the procedure to get your dosh back!

And let us all not forget that!

See ya Amon

Oh Don't worry. I'll be getting my money back no matter what it takes.

Clowns isn't even the word. Call 0800 404 8151 option 1 and 1 or option 1 and 3. You'll be put through to either an African with poor English, an Indian who doesn';t understand what you're saying or you'll be on hold untill you reach the age of 50.

You have had previous problems with them. Complain, complain, complain.

Better still - let me pretend to be your mother and complain on your behalf.

I had a problem with double charging once.

I just phoned my bank who put me on hold while talking to VISA. They came back and said that VISA will refund me straight away and they'll get the money back from the company. 2 days later the money was back in my bank.

Perhaps your best bet would be to speak to your bank and explain that an unauthorised amount of money has been taken and the company responsilble are not refunding you.

I swear I recall someone posting here a few months ago asking if bulldog broadband was any good and some people here gave it a slagging. Sorry to hear you got ripped off.

I don't think I was double charged. I think they stuck my credit card details in a for/next loop and started hitting process. :/

I've been to my-bulldog-hell website to post a few things there. I'm not the only one who's been charged like this. Some 1000 customers have either been double/tripple charged or a big chunk of money was taken from their account.

Small claims court, works every time....
Shouldn't cost you anything, Citizens Advice have probably got a full folder of complaints against bulldog by now.

Amon, fact is Bulldog have taken unathorised funds from your bank. I'd get on to your bank first thing monday morning.

Bulldog? Bullsh*t, more like.

Heard so many stories about them, I wouldn't touch them with a very long stick.

I had broadband turned off a couple of years ago when I was with Zen Internet. They charged me for two months AFTER I'd told them to cancel at £24.99/month.

To be fair, they did refund it, but imho, they shouldn't have taken payment in the first place.

I'm with Zen again now, tho. 8mb download, 384k upload, e-mail, 20gb monthly bandwidth and 1gb of webspace, seems like a reasonable deal.

Bulldog are shite, check your contract as you've probably got a clause where they can claw back money if you terminate the contract early. I use Tiscali, and had nothing but 100% service, it's £15 a month for 1M uncapped - now that's a good deal :)

For once I can sympathise with Amon, Bulldog broadband is a really bad broadband company. Talk about hard sell they phoned me five times a day to see if I want thier excuse for a ISP, they only stopped when I added my number to the 'Telephone Preferencing Service' as this gives me legal clout if they didnt stop.

My advice is avoid them like the plague.

Ring Bullfrog. Dont let them give you a deadline you TELL THEM when the money will be refunded by. Send a letter to then with the same information.

When they fail to refund your money, apply for bankruptcy on their behalf as a defalted creditor.
