My little movie

Just a quick bout of shameless self-promotion... My lovely short animated film "Ten Thousand Pictures of You" has its world premiere next week (in high definition digital projection) at the Curzon Soho, and then begins the festival circuit, having been accepted into competition so far at Rushes Soho Shorts (which also shows in Birmingham, Shepherds Bush, Cambridge, Leeds and Edinburgh), Super Shorts and Edinburgh Film Festival. Hopefully that's just the beginning. This film, if any of you remember, was a Film Council commission I started last summer (I posted about it then).

By the way, this is on topic as I used Blitz3D extensively during the making of the film - I created the whole thing before the shoot as a 3D animatic in Blitz, and made several apps to batch process keyframes, pan/scan and smooth out motion. I'm hoping to expand my animatic app into a fully featured filmmaking tool if I get the chance.

How do you go about applying for a film council grant?

This particular scheme is called Digital Shorts, and is run through the regions (my region is Screen South). It was a case of applying via their form, with a specific short film project. I think the deadlines are all around now for this year (Screen South's is 19 July) so unless you can work fast you'll have to wait til next year! Make sure you encode the bit where you fall out the wheelchair in the highest possible encoding quality so I can see the pain of you taking a fall in all its glory :)

Congratulation. I was working on a movie too, about a year of work. Not a single event or festival wanted to play it. Therefor the movie industry and all their pseudointellectual juries may burn in hell forever IMHO.

Gfk, it's not online, and won't be until every other avenue is exhausted (would counteract its premiere status in every territory and prevent any kind of distribution deal). If you want to see it, you'll have to hope it screens at a festival near you at a convenient time for you! If you live in London, Edinburgh, Leeds, Cambridge or Birmingham then you're in luck, otherwise fingers crossed for more acceptances...
