BlitzTree and BlitzGrass not working

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/BlitzTree and BlitzGrass not working

I get MAVs when trying to run the demos... I bought them a long time ago, but haven't played with them for a while. Anyone know reasons for getting MAVs with them? Is it my Blitz3D version?

TGC believe that "Ronnie" has recompiled the demos, but we don't know what version of Blitz3D he used. TGC have no idea of what versions the products are. They do not know if BlitzTree and BlitzGrass are new versions or not, based on the final versions that Aliencodec distributed.

I can run BlitzTree, but not BlitzGrass - "BoomBoom" cannot run either.

"Zmatrix" found that, depending on setup, it didn't work - he appears to have tested 2-3 computers.

"IPete2" has found that Tree Magic and TM Pro suffer from the DEP Windows SP2 issue

Basically, we need more people to download the demos and report back whether they run or not.

Somewhere I have an original working demo of BlitzGrass which I obtained from TGC when they first took over Aliencodec. Between then and now, it would appear "Ronnie" recompiled the demos.

Sounds to me like XP updates has broken them.
Wait till Vista comes along, then you're really screwed.

I had V196 of B3D... to fix it I had to download each B3D update... installing each until I got one that worked.
If you install B3D version 191 it will fix it. You can then install V196 and it will work fine. The demos still don't work because BlitzTree and BlitzGrass do not like Dark Basic gay lovers...

During the different versions of B3d...
I received "Texture does not exist" for a texture that did exist, however it was not a power of 2 texture...
MAV for a texture buffer.

Yep I tried 3 computers with blitzgrass, 2 of them Run it fine.
the other gets a Mav, all 3 are sp2.
I should try them with blitztree...I have blitztree (I think I had gotten the latest version before Aliencodec went down)

Ill try the demo and then compile my own and see what happens.

Well at last - someone else agrees - perhaps now we'll get some sort of action.

Report this to TGC.

prahaps its something todo with the non power2 textures?

As in these demos were compiled with a blitz before the problem was solved, so on nvidias it crashes, on ATI's its ok?

Well, if these products are using textures that aren't pow2, I think that's going to be a problem with some GFX cards. I've seen a few posts about some cards having probs with non-pow2 textures - the 6600 card (or whatever it's called) in particular seems to be troublesome.

thatyd the card i have 6600, and i get MAV on it.

well blitztree(demo) works on a 5900 , but not a 6800gtx

But you are right about the (leaf) Textures not being powers of 2
some are 150x150, 246x241 ect.

So that could be part of the problem,If not the problem.

Sam

hey Sam... caught ya slummin'...

:)

those things haven't been looked at for months... no surprise they don't work...

--Mike

OK so if that is the problem and not the DEP issue, how do we get to the textures to change them please?

IPete2.

Not to bring back such an old topic but I was having the same problem on my 7600. What I found was if you change readpixelfast, to readpixel in Blitzgrass it fixes the problem on those cards. The reason the blitztree demo doesn't work is because they use blitzgrass in the demo as well as blitztree.

..everythings working just fine here

Just to bring you guys up to speed with TreeMagic Pro, the chaps at TGC very kindly recompiled a version for me and it now works fine.

I believe that the problem was due to DEP but no one ever confirmed or denied this.

So, I now have a working TreeMagicPro where previously it did not work on my ATX800 PC.

IPete2.

About time they recompiled it. I did point this out to them many months ago that Aliencodec did not seem to have used current versions.
