Any tips and tricks for gile[s]?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Any tips and tricks for gile[s]?

I'm going to start using gile[s] for lightmapping my interiors.

Any hints/tips/tricks/pitfalls I should know about? I know nothing about lightmapping.

This is the interior of one of my Oblivion farmhouses:

Isn't it exciting?

a tip: add some light :)

What I found is with my LCD monitor in relation to the above picture is, if I have my head low - eye-level with the base of the monitor, then slowly raise my head up - the scene gets lighter. Likewise, if I lower my head - it gets darker.

It really is most exciting - I think I have invented a new form of lightmapping - based on the position of my head.

Try it yourself. If you can handle the excitement.

looks really nice puk...

but yeah, a lil more lighting, maybe an area light or two (omni)... this would definitely enhance the shadows too.

I am not looking at tips with regard to the above pictured scene - I mean tips on using gile[s] in general.

I'm not prepared to learn how to use it by trial and error - so, I want people to basically give me all the info I should need.

Let's have it.

Isn't there a manual or something?

Will it turn into a game?

Light it on fire. That'll be exciting.
