what does no one use maya?
Have you ever looked at the price of maya? I think that explains a lot...
yeah... this is the cheapskate section of the indie hood...
check over on the Beyond Virtual forums... a lot of those guys swear by Maya...

I never liked it...
Don't think there is an exporter. JHocking was making one a year or so ago, but as far as I know, nothing came of that.
Max and Maya are pretty much industry standard now for modeling and level design. But Maya isn't as well supported with 3rd party exporters.
..you should try to get Polytrans for Maya...from there you can export in to ms3d or X or some other formats B3D recognize...thats the closest way to do some work between Maya -> B3D
sorry i thought some of you may use maya. i found a way i think im still testing, ive been using the unreal actorx plugin and then importing the animated mesh into unwrap3d and exporting as a b3d file. seams to work so far. plus if this works you can use the Free PLE version of maya because there is an version of actorx for that.

[edit] ive had a good go at getting this to work now and i can get the anims into unwrap3d
I did a course on MAYA ,easy enough to use but the thing cost around $16,000 about the same price as a boat here in New Zealand.
Once you purchase it you cant use it for anything with it (in terms of realtime interactive games/demos) unless you are working for pixar studios ,because or computers arent the big screen bud.
B3D is real time on the fly rendering, MAYA is intended for the big screen and has that b*llsh*t water mark that was enough to convince me not to proceed with the second year of the course. Anything made by the trial version cannot be loaded by the full version ???? (no logic there)
perhaps the makers of MAYA will sell you details of there format for $1,000,000,000 then you could write your own exporter.
maya does game models just great! i can export for unreal engine and halflife 2 its just blitz3d format i have problems with. im going to see if anyone i know has Polytrans so i can try that, its ment to be good. i think maya and softimage are the best 3d programs you can get at the moment, but i just really like the interface in maya, i know some people hate it but it just works for me.
