Emails being sent (or received) twice...

Hiya, I've got this problem with sending large emails. Normal emails are fine, but if I attach a large zip file, some people receive it twice, even though it is only sent once from Outlook Express. I have my outbound virus scanner off to stop it interfering. Could the problem be OE, ISP or at their end?

Any ideas?

I see the problem.

When you send an e-mail with an attachment, you also send it to M$. The 2nd e-mail is supposed to be sent to Bill Gates' secret spying department. I guess in these cases your mate got them twice by accident.

I guess you haven't installed the latest service pack yet to fix this bug.

It is, don't use Outlook Express.
That's like still using IE to use the Internet.

This can occur when the header is corrupt and your mail client can't tell if it's been downloaded.

Hmm, I wonder why it would be corrupt though? This happens *every* time I send a big file. But I'm not sure it's to ALL recipients...

Maybe next time I'll use something other than OE as an experiment, but I need to copy the addresses across...

Thunderbird will import them for you.

LOL! Grey, now that I recall, those tunes you sent me last month. They came twice. Heheh :)
I didn't think anything of it at the time.

I've found out it's Wanadoo. People seem to get them from two different SMTP addresses!

Does the person you're sending it to have any way of checking if two copies of the e-mail exist on the mail server? Can sometimes do this if you have a POP3 mailbox and your ISP provides access via webmail too.

Could be that the person you're mailing is using some weird e-mail client that isn't deleting downloaded mail from the server correctly.

that's what I though was a possibility but the two emails have different times on them by a few seconds and have a different smtp at wanadoo, which means they are coming from different locations, having been duplicated by the ISP!

Outlook will import them for you =] Office 2007 is free at the moment, so maybe give it a looksee.
