Hi all.

How many of you have this game?

1) Why rename it? Warrior Within was a better name. This isn't a nintendo.

2) Why add new levels if you're going to rush everything, sometimes even textures have been rushed making the prince look like a tiny ant. Also, several places exist where you simply cannot see where you need to go- caused by bad lighting in clearly rushed areas.

3) Publishers- Why do they rush the developers of these games? More and more bugs are in games these days. I think this is due to late nights and rushes of the game development industry.

Just had to get those thrown out :-)

[edit] Oh, looks like I may have a copy of this game to sell if it doesn't improve soon ;)

3) They would have to pay them further and as they now that the game would definitely not pay back, thats no option.

2) Quantity tends to beat quality up to a given point

1) It sounds "cooler" (would guess thats what the PR guy said)

1) If you didnt know you might buy it even if you wouldnt if you knew

2) Thats like asking why wacky Racers only has one parrallex

3) Why bother making it good you bought it anyway

3) Publishers- Why do they rush the developers of these games?

Most developers sign a contract before development begins dictating how long each milestone will take to complete. There are heavy pay penalties involved for milestones that aren't met.

On top of this, the publisher retains the right to demand specific additions or changes to the code or gfx, etc at any time before these milestones have been met. I have a friend who gave me an example of a GBA game he was working on - the publisher demanded a certain string of text be moved by 1 pixel - this happenned at least 3 times... each 'fix' takes some time for the code to be reuploaded and looked over...

It is all designed to push the developer behind schedule so the publisher can save a bundle. Little wonder, then, that many more important parts of games are left to play or look like crap. Chances are the developer simply ran out of time for that particular milestone.

Regarding ported PSP games....I think Alex Navarro's answer to this rant of the week(right-column, scroll down a wee bit) in his mailbox sums up my opinion on them exactly.

I was actually interested in the game (since I never bothered with Warrior Within, but the gameplay style looked like it could fit greatly on a handheld system when adapter properly)....then I read the reviews, all stating it had major problems, like near constant loading which juggles the FPS here and there, and sound issues.....

Aint goin to bother answerin yer 3 little statements though, as the ones above share my same opinion.

All good replies, thanks.

Genexi2:

It can't stream the levels in like the other systems can, causing a jolt every now and then. That's not so bad really.

BUT... the cutscenes are *all* out of sync with the sound. It's like they never even checked them! and sounds like a waterfall just suddenly *pop* in when you're like 2 feet away from the source.

Still, it beats the PC version where I couldn't even get the prince to run up a wall properly... :-)
