Image how fast it would be with a DX9 driver instead the DX7 one ... woohooo

@Dreamora, why would DX9 be faster? If anything I would assume it was slower.

Let's not forget that Blitz3D has featured on the cover of Time magazine and has kicked many a butt.

B3D and BlitzMax are two different animals... maybe the same species, but definitely a divergent branch... i fail to see the connection puk...

Oh well, I can't wait to play the attack of the killer 2000 sprites game when it is finally released.

Was this a dirty rects system or not?

Why I think its faster: Drivers are optimized for DX9 and get less and less optimized for DX7 due to the architecture differences. (NVidia is the worse of the two possible examples)
DX9 has the better architecture for such stuff anyway (perhaps you remember the thread on the point sprite thingy which DX9 as well as OpenGL have which would make a good addition)

Hmm.. On my computer the visual basic test was faster than the c++

Standard out of the box BMAX. Dirty Rects would be slower as all sprites are moving every frame.

Indie, I left it running for a while at 22000 sprites (~30fps), but when I dropped it down to 0 sprites, I was only getting ~256fps. When I dropped it near the start of the program I was getting ~2800fps.

Maybe a memory leak?
