I like the fact it runs at room temperature and probably doesn't require a noisy fan... noise from pcs is quite 1960's really if you think about it.

And it's still 70 times faster than normal chips at room temperature!

They predicted it to happen around 2010..
and now it seems that the speed of the current processors have stagnated a bit.. so I keep my fingers crossed.. hehe :)

Wow, that is really awesome. At last a processor that will be able to run Windows Vista at full speed.

Yeah and if we can get a similar boost in Hard Drive speed Vista might load in under 1 minute.

With something like that, who needs 3d-video cards? Bring on realtime raytracing!

Maybe you could go to the South Pole, do that, then run Linux on it (Linux = Penguins, LOL).

Needless to say, it's a wonderful thing to see a 1/2 THz chip like this. We are even lucky to even see 5.0 GHz, let alone 500 GHz... I wonder when this'll be made standard for PC manufacturing?

yeah I thought speed increases were over and multi-core was the way foward but I'm pleased to be wrong.

Honestly though, I believe the future might see computers
splitting up tasks even more, not condensing them. Computers
started out with just the cpu, then we added graphics cards,
sound cards, now we have physics cards, I see it going further
into things like AI cards. What do you all think?

All we need now is a 200GHz GPU and a HDD spinning at 1/2Million RPMS.

I remember reading (not too long ago) that 500Mhz was the "absolute undoubtable physical limit for processors".

Then I heard "we've been stuck at 3-4 Ghz for a while because 5Ghz is the absolute undoubtable physical limit for processors".

The moral of the story is that I'm never going to listen to anybody ever again. ;)
