How to mark a hard disc as fixed?

I just got a usb hot disc and when I go to eject it within Windows I notice there is the option to eject my fixed system drives - how can I get rid of this option?

i dunno... but whatever you do, don't press the eject button for drive c:

possible occurances...

1- the hard drive bursts out of the front of the case...

2- a dialogue box pops up saying.. drive c: successfully ejected, all data wiped clean prior to ejection... press any key to continue...

3- a dialogue box pops up with a smiling Bill image saying April Fools 2007, to prevent further occurances, upgrade to Windows Vista... now...

What does it do when you select 'Eject' for your system drives?

I want him to try it - I am intrigued by this - my computer has no such option for the fixed drives.

Ha ha boys I did actually try it - just came up with some error and no harm done. Someones gotta know how I can sort this one.....

I think it's possibly because of the drive controller, presumably you are not using the drives on the primary or secondary IDE controller, but instead on a SATA controller or similar?

Yeah Perturbatio, I think it is SATA though I haven't opened the case. Is this normal behaviour these days, then?

Yep, it happens with SATA drives. No problem really, I think SATA is set up to be hot pluggable if your drive supports it. (make sure it does though or there's a painful time ahead).

Hmm the problem is with the Nvidia drivers it turns out. You can get round it by going back to the slower Windows drivers or put up with the eject icon.
