Was there anybody here, signed up with Xbox Live, ever play the included Hexic, or have downloaded the full version of Hexic on XBL Arcade? If you have, do you feel that it's the next Tetris? After all, it was written by the same person who originally wrote Tetris. Mr. Pajitnov was a genius with a game like this. It sort of takes elements from "Bust-A-Move" as well as Tetris... This is just one game that seems to get me to download the full version.
However, were there any plans to develop a similar game on Blitz? I'm feeling influenced by Hexic already, and feel that it would be a great start to designing a game that's easy, AND fun... Not too sure what the legal issues of the game structure would be. Just better hope that it's open to clones like Tetris was.
I played it. Seems like a poor variant of of all those block swapping games that have been around for years. The 'hex' gimmick just makes it hard to play. No way is this a new Tetris.
>This is just one game that seems to get me to download the full version.
I thought you got the full version free? Pre-installed on the HD. I may be mistaken, I deleted it.
ZooKeeper on DS is approx. 1 million times more fun.
Indiepath's GEOM game is a much cleverer hex based puzzler.
Ahh, okay, so there WAS a game written in Blitz that's based on these "color tile match" puzzles. I'll look into making that game mine. Should be nice. Might as well be original and see what type of puzzle game I can make like this, easier said than done.
Another note, that Linux has a Bust-A-Move clone called, "Frozen Bubbles" or something (if you have the SUSE 10 distro). That, too was rather cool. It's sort of like Breakout to a point. A game that combines Breakout and Tetris would be cool, just try and use a paddle to strike a ball into matching balls, and then they'll disappear, otherwise, if the ball doesn't match, it'll bounce back, and you have to hit the ball again, or else you lose a ball, and some points. I see a game like that.
I really like Hexic as well, it's actually quite deep. I don't know if it'll be the next Tetris but it's a good game.

I admit to not playing it for very long. But why would I if I wasn't having fun?
At least Hexic is a cheap game from the Arcade, I believe that it was only 150 points or something like that...
