All of a sudden an external HD of mine is not being recognised. The only thing I can think of that I've changed recently is to install Daemon Tools. Could that be a possibility?

When I first used it, it was preformatted for mac, but I have MacDrive so I started to copy something to it. Straight away it went down, said drive not available. So I reformatted it to NTFS. Each time I tried, it would get to the end of the install and say "Windows could not complete the format". But the drive appeared. Rather stupidly, I just went ahead and used it.
Then I tried to use it on other machines and found the only machine it would be recognised on was my own. On all others, Win would beep as it was connected but no drive would appear. In Disk Management, it would come up as Unallocated. But when I put it back on my own PC, it was fine. So I thought I'd finish my project, back it all up to another disk, then reformat it on another PC or something.
Just before I could do that, it's now coming up as Unallocated on my PC too. I could try to create a new partition but I know I'd lose my data. Before I do that, is there anything I can do to rescue my data from this drive?

Weird. MacDrive just popped up a window saying there appeared to be both Mac and PC partitions on the disk. When I got it to attempt to repair it to being just a PC disk, it said it couldn't because the drive was not ready.
Well, guess it's a moot point now. All formatted and maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. Damn.

My guess would be that the virtual drive that DT uses conflicted with the drive letter assignment. You just need to manually adjust the drive letter. But DT doesn't hurt your hardware.
