Rob C is still around, known as someone else.
Frank Taylor is also around, he just doesnt pop his head through the door very often.

Cletus Clay is still being developed. I played it recently and it's quite excellent.

And I just came back a week ago :)

Thanks for asking about me. Ive been consumed with life, business, family, and work for the last couple years but im back and wanting to get BMax... which I'll do just after I get food, cloths for my daughter and a new computer... I still only have a freakin 850 yikes! I still have B3D to play with though

Yeah, I canceled my project, due to the fact that the theme of mine didn't take the shape that I wanted it to... Too many influences and inspirations spoil a game project, learn my lesson there. For right now, I've yet to even think of something to do... I'm designing tech demos, atm, but some of those tech demos could, and I mean COULD become game titles in the near future.

this is a good thread... especially the games part...

most of the time we only hear about games that are completed, but i feel it is also important to hear about projects that have been aborted for one reason or another, and the reasons for such...

also... i think Frank still checks in every now and then too...

Well, the only 3 that I think are missing in action are:

"Ravey"
"John-Robin"
"BigWorm"

The others have been sighted in one way or another within the global Blitz community (not necessarily on this site).

@Red Ocktober

Agreed... I've had three of my projects not work out due to unanticipated problems with the game play (too slow), or "Hey Im only 1 guy and this project is toooooo big", or what seemed like a good idea at the time (game control) just causes confusion in the gaming community etc...

Just because a game idea seems cool doesnt mean it will be.. its just something we come to expect and have to respect...

The KISS principal comes into play as well as the "Dont make me think" principal.... so thats my game development modo now.

Singularity: still alive. but i havent seen any games made with it :/

Cletus Clay is still being developed. I played it recently and it's quite excellent.
Are you pulling our legs, or are you really alpha/beta testing it?
If so, tell Anthony that we need screenies and/or videos.. :)

Ravey went over to the Dark side ! I imagine Root went with him.

FAO Bouncer, what's happening with Nano?

Oh yes, Nano was one I was looking forward to a lot! Do tell...

I released The Servant Open source ages ago.

What about Rob permain, i remember him from ages back when i was a regular here?

>Are you pulling our legs, or are you really alpha/beta testing it?

I'm not officially testing it or anything but Anthony gave me a build a few weeks ago.

That's really good to hear.

pfff, you didn't ask about me. How much less do I have to post to become a long lost great? :) ...

@ Skully's post to red... project tooo big made me emigrate from B3D to BMax... My project will have same functionality (ish) ... - if not better - not so much (hopefully) in the brainache learning curvism.

Surprised Blu_Matt didn't make the list. Talked to the guy in IRC for ages, met up at BlitzCon 1 back in October 2001, and went out on a boozy bender with him when I was up in Edinburgh sometime in 2002, on a stop-over en route to Inverness.

Lost touch for some reason after that, kinda miss the bloke... same goes for Ravey... :/

suprised no one wonders where Beeps went. I heard from him a few months back he stopped doing pretty much everything with computers

Speaking of Blu_Matt, I'm still waiting for the triumphant return of darth_pingu aka dan_upright. Same sorta story as Blu - he lasted on the forums for a bit longer, but when his One Man Army website went down again, he kinda slipped into nothingness... :o(

To answer one of your questions: Traci (aka Kuri) moved down to sunny Australia, and promptly moved in to the unsunniest city they could find (Melbourne). Chaos Moon was another casualty of Real Life, per this post in this thread:
Yes, I'm still here. :)

Chaos moon is dead, unfortunately. Just not enough hours in the day, or days in the month etc. etc. Tez has a job as Art Director for a games company here and has a 1-2 hour commute each way. There just isn't time to continue.

I hope Australia worked out for her, Melbourne notwithstanding. :o)

Can it be a mere conicidence that Blu_Matt was hosting the OMA site?

Aah, hence my cunning use of the word 'again'. :o)

Blu was hosting OMA, then Blu went away and his hosting with it. Mr Upright was in limbo for a while, but luckily he got picked up by another kindly hoster: Beeps, and his Binary People project.

Sadly, those around at the time know how well that worked out, so after that hosting went away, so did OMA. I emailed Dan about it, but by that stage he could reply with little more than a virtual shrug - he seemed to be struggling with the desire to maintain a presence. The community is not what it once was, as you know.... *wipes away a silent tear*

don't be sad guys... I'm still here!!!! :)

(or might that be the reason why you're so sad?)

Sigh. The good die young.

I must say i liked these forums better before all the Blitzmax hysteria.

Heretic!

Amen. Heck I downloaded Traci's RPG combat system from the DB site a week ago just to reminisce a bit. That combat demo still rocks to this day. (did anyone actually beat that monster??)

Maybe if we kick and scream loud enough some old faces will emerge. =\

Attention - I just spotted "BigWorm" - I repeat "BigWorm" has been sighted.

End of report.

And where the heck did Morduun go??

I couldn't beat the monster in traci's game. Looked like a really good project. Her partner was a brilliant modeller. What happened to Caff too?

Talking about Ravey and Rob C. I mind the time (one of times should i say) they caused chaos in here. Hehehe :o) Good to hear Cleatus is stil being developed too.

Now, I am starting to see a pattern here.

I'd like to state I have no idea where "Morduun", "Dan Upright" and "Caff" are.

Recent personal issues have impacted my time and motivation negatively. Additionally, after several failed Blitz Open Source Projects {Project PLASMA FPS, PersistentWorld3D Editor, BRAINS, MAUI, BlitzScript3D}, I've decided to go underground to work quitely on TournamentBlitz.com {website, sdk, games} and other web-based profitable ventures.

Morduun was working on a 3d version of rogue...looked neat...

Whatever happened to big10p? I remember him - he was so cool.

i am still working on our <nameless> tactical shooter. at the moment i am trying to develop a good netcode, which is not an easy job...

Soja was a helpful guy.

Got a link? I'd like to try it out.
