Calling Wanadoo (now Orange) Broadband users

This topic is for people with Wanadoo (now Orange) broadband who have a LiveBox. If that's not you, go away or read on and prepare to die of boredom. :P

OK, now that Wanadoo has re-branded to Orange, they seem to be offering an equivalent package that I'm using (with Wireless LiveBox, free phone calls, etc.) for £17.99, which I'm currently paying £21.99 for.

I've tried emailing them so see if I will be only charged £17.99 from now on, but recieved back some stock answer about different packages that's as clear as mud.

Next, I try ringing the Orange help line and am put through to some dizzy bint who probably doesn't even know her own name. :/ I eventually gleen from her ramblings that it's £17.99 for the first six months and then goes up to £21.99. However, I'm sure that's the old Wanadoo plan that I have, as the website doesn't say anything about it only being £17.99 for six months. That can't be legal.

Any other Wandoo/Orange users have any thoughts as to what's going on?

It seems from the website that I can 'upgrade' to Orange's new package that's the equivalent to mine and be charged only £17.99 a month. Hmmm, I wonder if we have to do that to get the cheaper price, or they'll just carry on charging £21.99? Wouldn't surprise me, the sneaky barcodes. :P

I'm with BY, I joined the £30 a month scheme so that I got TV, Phone AND broadband for £30. Nice, only, on month two I got a letter saying the prices were going up.

I called, and had a word, and threatened to leave, and left with 3 months *free* broadband! :)

BY do actually care about their customers, even if their tech support these days is even worse than that one Indian guy Dell have working over in India :)

Well, I could get free broadband from Orange. The catch: I have to take out a £30 a month Orange mobile phone plan. I don't use £30 a year on my mobile, let alone a month. :/

I've had another play around on the site and at one point it said my current plan is £17.99 a month. If that's true, why couldn't they just have told me that I'm only going to be charged £17.99 from now on? Grrr. I guess I'll have to wait and see what I get charged at the end of the month to find out.

Well, they just went with the name charge as Orange is a pretty high profile brand world-wide, I think.

It seems that all the big mobile phone providers are desperate to take on broadband provision, too.

Grey: I know what you mean but any amount I can shave off my monthly outgoings is welcome. Plus, it's a point of principle: if they're going to try and screw existing customers for a few extra quid, I'll take my custom elsewhere.

You didn't sign/agree to any forms that allowed them to do so without your consent did you?

of course its legal! its an introductory offer. Everyone does it - every single isp, every sports club etc.

If you want to leave them, and then sign back up for an introductory offer then you are within your rights to do so, but it must be done officially. Why on earth are you bitching over £24? :)


ON another note though you do have one point and that is orange ran an ad campaign if you remember for their mobile phone services where the old zen guy muttered something in the limo, and they translated it to "our existing customers get the same benefits as NEW customers!"

But that obviously is a crock of old pants.

No, when I signed up when they were Wanadoo, they made it very clear that I'd be charged £17.99 for the first six months, and then £21.99 thereafter. Now that it's Orange, there's no mention of a special six month rate at all. That's why I suspect that the £17.99 charge is fixed and the girl on the phone didn't know what she was talking about. :)

Everything in the UK is a rip-off. Cigarettes, booze, phones, TV license, petrol, games, food, houses, electronics......

Too true. I heard on the radio today that folks in the UK that download music get charged more than everyone else. What the hell's that about?! I don't download music so can't confirm it, though.

Probably explains why they don't run those ads anymore. :P

Can someone who speaks any african or indian language call Bulldog broadband CS on 0800 404 8151 option 1 then 1 and ask them why they have charged me £560 for one months broadband?

Then, can you ask them why they have billed me for £109.36 extra charges for phonecalls when my phone has been offline for 3 months. Also, ask them when they are going to fix the line.

While you're on the phone to them can you ask them for the MAC code I've been requesting and have been told will get for the last 5 months.

Back on topic. Yeah, I fell for Bulldogs offers and was actually thinking of joining wonadoo but not to sure of it now.

I'd get on the phone to oftel Amon, once you get them involved, they do everything to tidy up any complaints... I've needed to use watchdogs a couple of times, and companies pap themselves! :) Which is great lol

I certainly notice the difference working in the Czech Republic. Beer is only 60p a pint here. I'm in no hurry to come back!

Back on topic. A guy I help with his PC is currently on Wanadoo and hes facing the same predicament. Like me, he gets totally bewilldered by the number of packages available and cannot be bothered spending 6 weeks reading through the terms and conditions trying to understand if hes going to get screwed over or not.

Glad I'm not in the UK right now.
