Are BMaxes sales figures public domain?

If they are where can I find them?

BRL seem to be still in business so I'm guessing its enough to pay the bills.

Considering the number of different language Blitz communities, the stuff some of them churn out (the French community has done some amazing stuff!), and the constant flow of people posting in the Beginners forums here, I'd say they sell a fair number of copies :)

Don't know about BMax but there are 9,569 members of the community. That's a pretty good chunk of change for the last 5 years huh?

Not really.

well assumming each one of us bought only BlitzPlus thats $574,140. That's $114,828 a year. And the average programmer gets paid (I think) about 60,000 a year. So like FlameDuck said, no.

You have to bare in mind that many of us have also purchased more than 1 BRL product.

Cost are obviously the hosting, any software/hardware bought to aid testing/development, Tax (aarrrggghhh). I'm not sure if Skid or anyone else is on the payroll though.

I hope BRL is pushing well over $100,000 a year in profits though.

You also have to remember that many forum members ( such as me ) got a BUID from Idigicon, so BRL wouldn't get full whack for those purchases.

Not to mention that ShareIt takes a whopping 17.5% ( or used to, anyway ) from the money before you even see it.

It's people like me who keep getting banned and buying new licenses that keeps BRL going. :)

That's a very poor assumption considering Blitz3D is the flagship product and that BlitzPlus was really just a side project/experiement with GUI that people complained about endlessly ... or in other words the poorest selling Blitz product. You've got to think the average Blitz user spends at least $100 on Blitz products. I have B3D and Max ... $180 for me. How many have B3D, Max, and BlitzPlus, and BlitzBASIC? Your figure is very modest and probably about only 2/3 - 1/2 of what BRL has cleared.

9571*80=765,680 (just guessing at $80 there, thats about how much I paid for my B3D)

Blitz Plus costs less so the figure could be lower as Khomy Prime detailed. However, if you buy more than one (I have BPlus and BMax) you don't get a new user Id do you ...

I can assure you that they have sold at least one copy of BlitzMax. They may have sold more, but I have no way of being sure.

That's rubbish math, because like Gabriel said, most of us got our Blitz3Ds thought Guildhall/Idigicon, and BRL would have made considerably less on those sales.

If I where a gambling man, I'd say about 1500 copies of BlitzMAX.

Hmmm... I think that B3D sold a lot more copies after Idigicon. I got on pretty late in the Idigicon deal and I'm user number 1809 or something like that. Shortly after I got my copy Blitz went independent. It seems that only about 1/3 of those licenses are probably from Idigicon. Who knows though ... still it's fun to speculate.

Totally forgot about that, but still, that was ages ago now. B3D still sells.
