Anyone Played Sin:Episode 1?

I was gonna buy this today, but the box says broadband internet is a minimum requirement. ( The Gamespot review says 56k is a minimum requirement. ) So I'm wondering if the broadband internet is required for Steam download and activation or if it's only if you want to play online.

Is this like the old FPS game Sin?

That it is Grey, the boxed version includes the original Sin game as well. =/

Regarding the requirements, I cant see why you couldnt use dial-up, odds are it just recommends broadband for the unpacking bit and all the bull the majority of us went through for HalfLife2, just for the singe-player component of the game.

'course, they could possibly have it setup where the disc pretty much installs nothing of the game, then you have to blow off your bandwidth to download it from the server to play.
(rendering the CD purchase pretty much useless content-wise aside from the serial-key)

Noticed that. Almost makes it worth buying for that alone, as it was a great game. It went off a bit in the middle, but it starts out brilliantly.


Judging by the box, I'm pretty sure the broadband requirement is only for online play, which I have no interest in. ( My hatred for online gaming is probably the only reason I've never been bothered to upgrade to broadband. It's not the money because broadband would be cheaper.

I never had any problems downloading all the bits and pieces that HL2 wanted to download on 56k, and I was playing it before most of the broadband users were, that first day, lol. But I'd like to be sure before I buy it, as I've found more and more games stores are point blank refusing to accept returns, even with faulty goods, let alone a wrong purchase.

So it's a new Sin game hey, gotta check this out. I played the mission pack through too. This was one of the first games that all the stuff like sinks and loos and lightswitches worked in (excluding Duke Nukem 3D), plus it had some nice "broken" scenery.

Yep, loved the level in interactivity in it, even though 90% of the interactable objects had no impact on the gameplay, but its little things like that, that help immerse the player into the world imo, which was one of the things good ol' Duke was king at for its time.

Regarding the original Sin, I was surprised how damn long the thing was, just kept blasting through levels with that "the end level must be just around the corner..." just to find there was still quite a bit more hours of playing.

The price-tag was quite cheap too, even though considering the 1st episode is 6-8 some hours of length I recall reading? Well, that's more hours then I normally get from most $60 games of today. I quite like the episode thing when put into the context that the product *will* be finished at one point, and not abandoned half-way through the episodic release of the product.
