Hey, this is bull crap. My "The Last Samurai" DVD does not work on a DVD burner drive! The DVD works fine on my little laptop that only has a DVD Rom drive... Has this happened to anyone before? I'm pissed...

I have a DVD burner and one of my DVDs didn't work on it. It sounded as though it was too small as there was a shakey sort of sound - although one DVD has worked on it.

I was going to watch the battles and hear the credit's music!
the movie is too old to be some new sort of copy protection... So it's probably the drive itself.
I keep getting copyright notices when I try to play my DVD's in windows media player.. do I have to show microsoft my reciept too now?
Get a region free dvd program :o) Then you can skip all them warnings and play any dvd's you want :)

You don't get this problem with copied DVD's. Another one in the eye for the law-abiding citizen.

Depends on the model of the drive, and version of the firmware. Anyway, the easy solution is to just rip the DVD to harddrive, and then burn it again without macrovision and CSS safeguards, so you can play it on whatever you want. Then keep the original DVD safe someplace, and let the perfectly legal backup, take one for the team. All your firmware needs can be had at the link at the top of this thread....well 99.9% of them anyhow.
I was reading today about Zoke movies who release loads of DVDs in Hong Kong cheaply to battle pirates, but they won't play in PC DVD players to help prevent piracy, only on DVD players. That could prove annoying if you had a laptop!
