Just wondering...

Has anyone tried this?
http://www.osx86.theplaceforitall.com/howto/

I don't have Tiger, so no. I do have Ubuntu Linux, though, so I gotta say that all the hacking, cross-platform rigmarole shown here might seem excessive for someone used to installing Windows/OSX, but it's about par for the course for getting BlitzMax running with Linux, so take heart! :)

/ glad to have recently gotten BMax running under Ubuntu
// It wasn't that hard under Ubuntu 5.10 - including accelerated video
/// OSX 10.3.9 on PowerPC Mac runs fine along with BlitzMax 1.20 <- limit of my Mac experience

Yes I have this running but you won't be able to compile BMAX applications on it. BMAX does work though so you can load stuff in the IDE and make things.

Compilation won't work properly or reliably, even under vmware.

Same story for pear pc.

Just out of curiosity: Why wouldn't you be able to compile?

I would guess something to do with processor command sets? However this is certainly very interesting. I'm going to dig out my old UMDA2 hard disk and set about trying to do this.

If I can get iWeb to run on my PC, even if it's going dog slow by OSX standards, it still has to be faster than my cute but frankly gutless Dalmation iMac ! :)

I might do it to the 1 PC at work too just to annoy my Mac loving boss. He'll probably think it just proves Apple software is universally accepted... :)

It simply crashed like a bastard. You can get it compiling on pear pc, but you are looking at a lot of potential graphics errors.

On vmware it won't compile at all properly. Numerous errors and so forth. It would not run the ide sometimes either.

I'm still waiting for some clarification from BRL as to universal binaries so I can decide what mac to buy. I'll need that in a couple of months though.

Hm. I haven't tried recently, but I was able to compile under one of the first Blitzmax releases under OSX 10.2 (which is no longer supported, I believe) for PPC, using PearPC...

PearPC wouldn't do full-screen OpenGL through, but windowed was OK.

That said, I would be much more interested in running the intel OS-X through VMWare, except my current CPU probably wouldn't run it at all since it lacks SSE2 and SSE3.
