Wii - Zelda - how the controller works in game

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Wii - Zelda - how the controller works in game

Hi,

Just caught this, and want to share...

http://www.e3insider.com/gametrailers/?a=E

Look for e3 gameplay 2 trailer Zelda - it shows the ccontroller being used in game - (its on the right at the moment but it will move - look under Z then).

It looks a bit contrived to me kind of like the early promo video from the announcement, understandable since its a edited marketing video. But I hope the controler does prove to work well.

No no no no noooooooo!

They said Zelda TP was supposed to be released on GC this year...... Dammit, its the only reason I let my son get a GC!!!!

(can you tell I am a huge zelda fan)

Your poor old son, what if he wants a PS2 or X-Box? There's no Zelda on those consoles. :)

Dark Half -

dont worry its coming on both wii and GC I believe, as is the conrtoller. :)

But I guess it will look better on the Wii.

Well, the control footage looks like contrived marketing hype but the game looks f'in great!

I find no point in getting the GC version since both versions are being released alongside the Wii's launch date, will be pretty damn hard to get a copy then without a pre-order!

Regarding the controls, they looked pretty damn intuitive when I watched the Nintendo conference where they demonstrated the demo the attendents could play the next day, and it looked real slick, and you dont need to get crazy with body movements as exaggerated in the gameplay2 video there.

All I can say is, I'm very excited about the system now thx to the E3 conference, will be pre-ordering me one when the time comes, I got a good feeling Nintendo will actually pull through to the top this time around, even if all the hardcore gamers dont adopt it as their main gaming system.

Maybe if he knew that he could still play his GameCube games on the Wii, you could probably trade in the GameCube for the Wii, yet still let him play his GameCube games on that, due to the backwards compatibility. He won't be missing that much going to the new console, plus you'd be happy since you'd have Zelda for the Wii at the same time. That'll solve some problems right there. Just better get him used to the new controller, tho.

I look forward to this. My son loved Zelda too and maybe the little one will be old enough to play it by then (nearly 3).

Yeah, that'll revive my old days when I had my first NES and SNES back in the late 80s/early 90s. I'd like to see how far Mario and Zelda all went since the old days. I did play some demos of GameCube games, and maybe some N64 games way back when. Even tho I have a GBA SP, a handheld isn't gonna do much to bring the latest Mario and Zelda technology to life.

Plus, a little off topic, a salesman talked me into an XBox instead of the GC when I was going for a console about a year or two ago. Now I'm learning to regret that... Can't wait for the Wii to be released, then I'll show them that Nintendo's been around the block far more than either Sony OR Microsoft in the gaming market. That's for sure. I'm gonna make sure that Zelda, Metroid, and Mario are in my gaming library all over again after all these years.

Actually, we have an xbox... And with it modded, I have all the previous zeldas (minus the N64 and DS games) on there... I do own the NES and SNES versions anyhow, so screw the copyright, I dont want to have to hook up 2 other consoles for a retro of fun!

But I have been awaiting TP with utter passion!

or just plug a GC controller in if you don't like it...

With regards the controller, in a discussion on another forum about Smash Bros on wii someone posted this:

"Make the trigger for super smash moves a giant baseball-esque swing and I'm sold."

That is the coolest idea I've heard all week.

Right. I can only imagine what an FPS game would be like using the new Zapper gun for the Wii? That would be awesome. You'd actually be the one with the gun in your hand, instead of the computer holding the gun for you like a typical FPS. That would be sweet, Duck Hunt II'll take full advantage of FPS gaming for one game.

Zelda will be on both Wii and Gamecube with enhancements for Wii.

Anyone know if Zelda will come on a Gamecube disc, or both a gc disc and a wii disc for the two versions?

I seriously doubt that they would have both versions on one disc. They can charge more for a Wii version at launch than the Gamecube version.

I don't. It's much cheaper (production/distribution wise) that way.

It's Zelda. They can charge whatever they want for it, and people would still buy it. Even if they are shipped on different media, they'd still be priced the same, otherwise people would just by the GC version.

I don't have a gc... so why should I buy it :)
