OOP/C++ Over-rated?
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/OOP/C++ Over-rated? It was only supposed to be a joke, I never thought people would take the book seriously. Anyone with half a brain can see that obkect-oriented programming is counter-intuitive, illogical and inefficient..
Personally, I think this is just a joke by someone who hates OOP.
Maybe OOP is overrated (I wouldn't know) but I know one thing for sure (from my own experience) - OOP makes programming A WHOLE LOT easier. It may seem counter-intuitive when you're used to procedural methods, but when you get used to it, it is so much more intuitive and logical. It may not be exactly as efficient, but there's always a compromise between efficiency and readibility (if you're really concerned about efficiency, you can go back to assembly).
Pretty sure I read something similar to that which was confirmed fake.
Yep, it's a spoof: http://www-users.cs.york.ac.uk/susan/joke/cpp.htm

Yeah I'm sure it's not a true reflection of what was said or even if an interview ever took place. But never the less there are some things I agree with and some I don't.
Well, just for the record, this is what was said:

It's kind of funny what some people will do to "prove" that OOP is "stupid".
seen it before.
The more I use it, the better it gets (OOP). It's not some emperor's clothes.

As much as I would like it to be true, it's not. :-)

Did you really give an interview to IEEE in which you confessed that C++ was deliberately created as an awful language for writing unmaintainable code to increase programmers' salaries?
Of course not. Read the real IEEE interview.
