Aurora annoyances?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Aurora annoyances?

I see we have had a large number of positive threads regarding Aurora. I think it's high time that the people who have paid the money are allowed to outline the negative aspects of the engine and why they came about.

I had the 'Why did I do that?' feeling the moment I bought Aurora. The events leading up to 'the banning' have only reinforced this. In no particular order:-

- the 50% price cut within days of the initial release
- the authors unchanged manners/attitude
- the no demonstration situation
- the rushed release
- crappy docs
- the buggy/untested updates
- spamming these forums
- the stupid C# signature thing to annoy skidracer

During the banning period Mr. Aurora also pulled the 'Arkon disappearing act' on all the people who quickly took the initiative to support him in his time of (internet access) need. I've lost the money but I sure as hell am not wasting any more time on the engine. In a different world the same wrapper could have been all love and flowers. It should have been Aurora v0.0001 Alpha and it should have been released by Evak or not at all. Nothing directed at Evak as it's not his fault, but I'm pretty certain he is not happy about these events either. Don't think I've missed any of the major points in that description. Looks pretty bad, but also pretty true. I've been a good boy, sitting and watching all this Aurora crap fly about whilst maintaining a positive/quiet attitude in the vain hope that this would benefit Mr. Aurora. It didn't, so maybe laying the facts on the table like this will...

If you bought Aurora and are unhappy with your purchase then please add to this. I'd prefer if this does not turn into a slagging match. Just detail why your unhappy in a professional manner as I have done.

I can't see any problem with that.

I've said my '40 GBP' piece so I'll shut up about it now.

If you bought it on ShareIt and it isn't what you thought it was or you aren't happy for some other reason (the price cut thing is a stinger), then go get a refund.

Pretty sure this thread will vanish soon anyway.

I don't see why the thread needs to be removed. There's no language and I have not personally attacked anyone, merely documented all the facts in a civil manner as the forum conduct sticky states. It was important to get this off my chest.

the 50% price cut within days of the initial release
that was pretty unpro, way to pee of existing customers!

Now why does this not surprise me.

Wait, he did that permanently now??

I have a tendancy to ignore the threads, reason being they keep getting filled with crap and childish flamewars.

Get a refund.

i've experienced the same problems when i've purchasing the previous anthony 3d product : Vivid. After purchased it, there wasn't any professional support. No documentation. Next he stop to develop it and stop to correct the bugs... Finaly, Vivid was a free bugged product...

bug free product...
do you mean "free bugged product"?

I think the important thing with any engine (if you are the seller) is that you are using it yourself for a proper game, because then you need it to work properly and thus are updating it and fixing bugs etc. If you are not using the engine for a game, then your incentive to fix it is less. However, if you have customers then you have made a commitment and should honour it imho.

oups sorry yes ;-) a free bugged product ;-) edited my previous post !

It's Antony, what can I say?

Same with Indiepath...

If you only would have looked once before at the quality of the demo, the doc and into the forum then it would have been obvious that this product wasn't ready for a release.

Greetings,

LOL - he's too easy to wind up tho, I've been taking the pee since he started abusing me! (an he probably still hasnt realised)

Yes childish I know be it really is all he deserves, in addition I'd like to see blitzmax username LOCKED choose it once, and only be able to change it for very good reason

If you really are sick of bad 3d engines, come help me out with SOW, it has like physics and everthing!

its actually not very complete, but even by using it you will be able to provide feedback and drive development

In addition *all* source code is provided *free*
(cause its *free* dont mean its bad)

any one who contributes media/code/tutorials will obviously recieve full credit

Why did I start SOW, because like many others I too am sick of trolls releasing stuff and next year no support no fix's
and £40 for a wrapper, get real

that cannot and will not happen with SOW.

It seems off topic is open to the following business:-

'Aurora Quality assurance board'
'please test my new website'

This thread will become a battle ground as soon as Ant wakes up and starts reading it. :)

oh yeah... this outta be good :)
