Character FX

Who here uses Character FX? How friendly and useful is it? Is there something better at a similar price?

PaceMaker... easier... more intuitive...

--Mike

CharacterFX was weird and clumsy and PaceMaker is slow as heck from my experience.

I like CharacterFX, but it's not the greatest tool really. Like, I really dislike it's interface for assigning vertices to bones; I do the rigging in Milkshape, and then move the model to CharacterFX to animate.

I haven't really used it, but I know FragMotion is a pretty popular comparable tool.

PaceMaker has had many updates and optimisations. You should try the latest version 1.33. Development is ongoing with new features being added all the time.
Character FX and especially Fragmotion are good tools but do nothing to help or assist with the actual animation process. The IK tools in both these apps is virtually useless - especially CharacterFX.
PaceMaker is also useful for creating 2d animation from 3d models - a feature not available in either of the afore mentioned apps.

Pacemaker!!! Great tool! And with upcoming physics export (when?!?!?!) it will be perfect! ;-)

Put me down as a fan of Pacemaker! Besides Giles, it may be one of the best B3D apps I have used.

Pacemaker is actually "fun" to use and getting better all of the time. Has good Tutorial videos, as well.

Support smiff, buy Pacemaker and be happy :)

I have both CFX and Pacemaker and I like Pacemaker more.

A problem is CFX isn't updated anymore, and no FragMotion progrss visible.
